Y’all I promise you I’m tired of talking about “The Breakfast Club” and their shenanigans. Every week, it’s something. Still, they give us a lot to consider. And their names or the subject of one of their interviews somehow manages to find it’s way to the left side panel on Twitter.
Today, it’s Angela Yee’s turn. It all started with their interview with Gucci. During the sit-down, Charlamagne mentioned how scared they were of him when he appeared on the show back in 2013. Angela Yee jumped in to say that she actually wasn’t scared. That Gucci had always been kind and nice to her, so she had no need to be afraid. Gucci didn’t seem to believe her or didn’t want to. He told Angela that she was terrified. He said that he’d watched the interview and could see that she was shook.
Angela defended herself. “Why would I be scared, what you gonna do to me?”
Gucci: It’s not what I would do to you, it’s what I would say to you. Because we already had a history.
Immediately, Charlamagne jumped in and asked “Did you smash Angela Yee?” Gucci scrunched up his face and said no. Then Angela Yee said “Of course not. I’m saying. Come on guys.”
Gucci: “She done tried. She was on my dick back then. She know it.”
Yee: That is a lie.
Gucci: I am not lying,.
Yee: No, we was cool. I was not on your dick. Stop it.
Gucci: You did used to be texting me what hotel was you at and sh*t like that?
Yee: Never! You must got me confused with somebody else.
Gucci: You don’t remember when we did that interview a long time ago with Melyssa Ford and you was calling me?
Charlamagne: And Gucci got a good memory
Gucci: On that Lip Service shit? Stop it.
Yee: That definitely was not me.
Gucci: I don’t know who it was then.
Yee: I put my life on that. I would swear on my life, on my unborn child. I would never hit Gucci asking him what hotel he’s in.
DJ Envy: I don’t know. Who are you believing Charlamagne?
Charlamagne: I ain’t never known Gucci to be a liar.
Yee: Picture me hitting somebody saying what hotel are you in.
DJ Envy: Ayyeee….Everybody get horny.

I can’t keep saying that their behavior was disappointing. Because this is a pattern. It’s what they do and how they get down. Knowing that though, I wish Angela Yee would have asked them was were they going to let their fear of Gucci cause them to take his side over hers, when she’s the woman they sit next to and work with every day?

Who knows what their relationship with Angela is like off camera. But in this moment with Gucci they all threw her under the bus. They took his word over hers and forgot history. And not just history but the words that came from Gucci’s own lips at the very beginning of the interview.
Before things took a turn toward the messy, Charlamagne spoke about Gucci’s lifestyle change and whether or not he had to make amends with people he hurt and blatantly lied on before he was sent away to prison. Gucci said he did apologize to some people. He specifically mentioned Monica, saying that what he’d tweeted about her was wrong. But while Gucci tweeted about several of his male peers in the game, Monica wasn’t the only woman he claimed to have had sex with.
In 2013, Gucci tweeted that he and Wacka Flocka had a threesome with Nicki Minaj. He also claimed he slept with Keyshia Cole, Fantasia, and Ciara. And said “I wanna f*ck Tiny lil ugly a—”
So, perhaps Charlamagne dismissed Gucci’s earlier comments from his mind when he said he never knew him to be a liar. Or perhaps he was afraid to mention those lying ways in front of a man of whom he is still afraid.
Furthermore, I can’t imagine why Gucci would even feel this story appropriate at this time in his life. After watching the video, it seems that he took offense to Angela not being afraid of him and saying “of course not’ to the idea of sleeping with him and decided to respond with some “dirt” about her asking for his hotel room. But as a man recently engaged, what does it benefit him to tell the world that Angela Yee wanted to come to his hotel room. There’s no other reason than pettiness and an attempt to intimidate her, for the sake of his brand. I believe Gucci when he says he’s turned over a new leaf and his time in prison has caused him to see things differently. But obviously, the transition is not all the way complete if he’s taking pleasure in talking about his fantastical, near-sexcapades with radio personalities. When Angela asked Gucci if his now fiancee brings up his past, including his indiscretions, he gave some adage about looking at your past causes you to trip as you move into your future. It sounded deep and profound and certainly impressed Envy and Charlamagne, who claimed they were going to use it. But apparently, that strategy only works when his woman wants to hold him accountable for his past actions. If he wants to talk about it, to assert his masculinity or his appeal to women who would probably never, it’s perfectly fine.
And lastly, DJ Envy with his everybody gets horny line. It’s almost too simple to address. And while there is a great deal of truth in everyone getting horny, the idea that the horniness would possess Angela Yee to text Gucci Mane back in the day, when he was walking around looking like this:
