There are quite a few people (a.k.a., trolls) online who wish to get a reaction out of stars by making truly disrespectful comments about them, their work, and even worse, their loved ones. And while many stars can ignore it (or likely don’t bother to pay attention to comments at all), every now and then, even the sweetest ones have to give people a piece of their mind. That includes singer Jordin Sparks, who had to set a so-called fan straight after they paid the star a backhanded compliment. The young woman said it was hard to believe that the singer’s mother, Jodi Jackson, is an “average white woman.” When Sparks calmly called her out and the woman tried to act as though the singer was overreacting, Sparks was through playing nice:
And while many would probably avoid sharing images of a loved one who had been criticized online, the singer continued sharing images of her mom.
Sparks even made light of the “average white woman” insult by using that as a hashtag on a post of her mom during mother-daughter time.
Sparks has always been very close to her mother and calls her an inspiration, so you know she doesn’t deal with any disrespect toward her main girl. As it turns out, neither does Jackson.
“It’s her inner strength and courage,” she told PEOPLE.com. “When I was about 12, she told me not to lock my bedroom door. But I did. What did she do? She took my door completely off! It wasn’t like she said, ‘You’re in trouble,’ it was, ‘You have no door for six months!'”
