Mary J. Blige Sings To Hilary Clinton About Police Brutality, Asking Her “Where Do We Go From Here?”
Premiering on September 30, Mary J. Blige will debut her show, The 411 for Apple Music. And like most shows and films, The 411 had a very interesting trailer showcasing Mary with Presidential Candidate Hilary Clinton. In the one-minute clip, Mary is seen singing Bruce Springsteen’s 41 Shots— a song dedicated to Amadou Diallo who was shot 41 times by plains clothes officers in New York City for “fitting the description” of a suspect.
While Mary sang her heart out, Clinton respectfully looked somber. The clip then shifts to Mary asking Clinton, “Where do we go from here?” in regards to police brutality. When Clinton is on the verge of answering, Apple cuts the promo again to advertise the release of the full video.
Amadou Diallo died 17 years ago and the officers who killed him were acquitted of second-degree murder charges. Some were even promoted within the New York City police department. Since then, there have been an incomprehensible amount of deaths caused by police officers nationwide.
Do you think Clinton will have a solution? And does this commercial come anywhere near getting us to that answer?
Tune in on September 30 to find out.
