Don’t be fooled; men need to be cuddled too. I’m not just saying that they also like to be cuddled. I’m saying that they need to be cuddled sometimes. You know how you, as a woman, need to be cuddled when you’re on your period or can’t fit into your favorite skinny jeans that you’ve had since high school anymore need to be cuddled? Men have those moments, too. Those moments that shake their understanding of life and their reality. Those moments that make them question everything they know. Those questions that take away their role models. Those moments that reconnect them to—or disconnect them from—their childhood. They just need human touch or they think the ground will fall out from under them. Here are 15 times men need to be cuddled.

When their best friend moves away
Keep in mind that for men, best friend isn’t a ranking; they have one best friend. Unlike women, they don’t have three other best friends to turn to when the one moves away.

When their single mom starts dating
Men cannot wrap their minds around their moms dating. They pretty much want to punch anyone who even thinks of asking their mom out. They get nauseous. They feel vulnerable and insulted.

When their team loses
If your man is into sports and you’re not, just try to understand. When their team loses, it’s like…when Carry Bradshaw was too late to her own party in Paris on Sex and the City.

When their childhood pet passes
When men are young boys and teens, they don’t really feel comfortable expressing their emotions yet…except to their dog. So when they lose their pet, it’s like losing their first best friend.

When they lose their hair
This is a ground-shaking moment for men. It’s when they look in the mirror and think, “I’m turning into my dad.” And that comes with all sorts of other revelations.

When their libido dips
Don’t cuddle them in the moment (i.e. when they can’t get hard). But give them extra cuddles during this time of life.

When a job doesn’t work out
A man’s career is a big part of his identity. Some men feel like they fail as men if they don’t advance in their career, make that deal or get that promotion.
When their lazy boy chair gives out
Or their leather diner booth they got on Craigslist or whatever quirky, classic piece of furniture they’ve had four thousand beers in.
When their favorite coach retires
When men love a professional sports team coach, that coach takes on a sort of fatherly role for them. It will be like, for you, when Beyonce retires.

When their high school or college car gives out
They had a lot of good times in that thing. They snuck out at night to drink with their high school friends. They may have lost their virginity in there. That was another early best friend.

When their best friend marries a stank woman
Men just know if their friend marries a b-tch, they’ll never see them again. If they do, hang outs won’t be the same.

When their parents’ divorce
Men tend to be more affected by their parents divorcing late in life than women are. It could be because men are a little better at denying emotional imbalances in life…including in their parent’s relationship. So this comes as a big surprise.

When their best friend divorces
Men feel very strong ties to their best friend since, as we said, they usually only have one. If your boo’s best friend gets a divorce, your boo is thinking of them 24/7 as if he is going through the divorce.
