Just a month ago, rumors swirled that Nick Cannon, 35, and Chilli, 45, were dating. In response to such stories, Cannon played as corny coy as he could. “I would be so lucky to be able to be called ‘dating’ her,” Cannon told PEOPLE. “This is all new to me. I’m not ready for titles and all that stuff. I’m damaged goods! Who would want to date me? Clearly I don’t get it.”
And just like that, the conversation about the pair died down – until this photo popped up:
Yes, that’s Ms. Rozonda Thomas braiding Cannon’s hair (with some obvious help). And just as fast as that picture hit the Internet, a source spoke to The New York Post and claimed that the two have been dating for the last two months and managed to keep it on the low until now.
“They’ve been seeing each other for about two months. She really likes him and they’re spending a lot of time together,” the source told the Post. “She’s beaming all the time. She’s met his friends and family. Everyone approves.”
According to this same source, Cannon has also invited Chilli to join him at one of his many jobs, his hosting gig on America’s Got Talent. She was allegedly invited to tag along for filming this week with his mom. But as things heat up romantically, don’t expect them to heat up in the bedroom. If you’ll recall, Cannon told Ellen DeGeneres he was “being celibate. I’m trying to work on myself. No sex right now.”
While my colleagues were less than thrilled about the idea of these two as a couple, I think this pairing is kind of cute. Who knows? With his love for older women (i.e., Mariah Carey) and her appreciation of younger men (i.e., Usher), they may have finally found their perfect match. If not, he can at least get some fly cornrows done in the meantime…
