Years ago, in an interview with Lexi Allen for The Word Network, Keke Wyatt talked about a lot of things, including her abusive relationship with her ex husband, her faith and the way her children saved his life.

And on a much lighter note, she mentioned that her mother, Lorna Wyatt, who is a White woman, sings incredibly well. She likened her sound to a Tramaine Hawkins.

“My mother can sang. Soul singing White girl. Oh yes. Where you think I get it from? Like a Tramaine Hawkins type. I swear to God, I’m not lying. I’ll call my momma right now. I swear on everything but with more like the huskiness, very seasoned. She had the opportunity to go on and do some things but she got pregnant with me.”

Anyone who knows anything about gospel music knows that that is high praise and–let’s be real, hard to believe.

But a recent video of her mother singing a little something on Keke’s Instagram page proved that she really wasn’t lying.

Keke Wyatt is famous for her cover of Patti LaBelle’s “If Only You Knew.” Her mother stood next to her on the stage and sang along with her, absolutely slaying the stage.

See how it went down in the video below.

She literally slid up and down the scale and then hit that last note like it was nothing. Pretty impressive.
