It appears that another lovers quarrel has resulted in tragedy for Jennifer Hudson’s family.

According to TMZ, J-Hud’s half-brother, Steven Simpson, was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man repeatedly in the face. As it turns out, the unnamed victim was in a relationship with Simpson’s estranged wife. The troubled man is currently being held by police in Paw Paw, Michigan.

According to Daily Mail, the bloody incident occurred after Simpson showed up at his estranged wife’s apartment and flew into a jealous rage when he discovered her lover was there. Simpson is said to have a history of domestic violence and was actually out of jail on probation at the time of Monday’s attack. In fact, WWMT reports that the whole reason that he was on probation in the first place was for assaulting his wife on Super Bowl Sunday.

“He [the victim] said someone knocked on the door, he thought he was knocking on the door for somebody, and he started getting stabbed up,” Torrey Hunt, a neighbor who helped the victim after the attack, told reporters.

After being stabbed, the victim went to Hunt’s home for help around 3 a.m.

“I open the door and see blood everywhere,” he said. “He was stabbed in his chin and his chest, he had puncture wounds in his chest and his arms and stuff.”

“It was pretty scary because there was a lot of blood everywhere,” said another neighbor Krystal Miller. “I am thinking he could die any minute.”

Miller adds that Simpson had showed up to his estranged wife’s home several times in the past, pounding on the door and screaming for her to open the door.

“I hope shes alright too, obviously this guy is looking for her too,” Miller went on. “These are my neighbors; I live next to them, I don’t want anything bad to happen to them.”

Investigators say it’s unclear whether the victim or Simpson’s wife was the intended target of the attack.

“She locked herself in the bathroom until he left,” said Detective Adam DeBoer. “It appears to be an ongoing feud over a woman.”

Investigators say that Simpson showed up for questioning at the South Haven Police Department on his own around 2 p.m that day.

“He was cooperative in the sense that he showed up for questioning, but not very cooperative overall,” Detective DeBoer said.

The victim was treated at a nearby hospital, where he received 20-30 stitches. He was later released. Simpson is expected to be charged today with first-degree home invasion and attempted murder.
