While this year’s Billboard Music Awards have been quite uneventful (sorry, it has been kind of dull aside from the MJ hologram performance), we always enjoy tuning into these events for the sake of checking out who was wearing what. Black seemed to be the big color of the night (even if black performers were slim to none), but there were some colorful and just flat out head-scratch worthy looks from a few folks. Let’s discuss the looks of the night from a few of our favorite people.
GettyNicki Minaj
From head to toe, a toned down Minaj (and we’re loving these more natural looks she has embraced) was dressed in all black. Rocking an Alexander McQueen gown with a few risky cut-outs and a flash of underboob for the Barbs and Ken dolls, it was definitely an interesting look. I’m not crazy about it, but homegirl looks good! Steal!
Kelly Rowland
Work it, honey! Not only was Kelly Rowland looking fabulous in her cleavage baring top and gorgeous skirt with a thigh-high slit, but she was happily showing off her huge engagement ring with that new Mrs. glow on her face. And can we just say that her body is amazing? After a few crunches and some dieting, I would totally steal this look.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
This might be the first time I’ve seen Chrissy with bangs, but she looks like a completely different person. She stepped on the red carpet with her chic husband, and showed quite a bit of leg in this Fyodor Golan white and black dress. I don’t know about you, but I’m digging it. Steal!
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose
Now these two…No comment on Wiz (if you don’t have anything nice to say, it’s best to say nothing, right?), but Amber Rose stepped out with her man in a black pantsuit with these huge futuristic shades that covered a majority of her face. I actually dig the pantsuit, but Lord, she could have left those sunglasses in the crib. Stop.
Jennifer Lopez
You can’t tell me Jennifer Lopez is 44 because she is slaying folks half her age. At the Billboard Awards to pick up the Icon Award, Lopez stepped on the red carpet in a red Donna Karan gown that gave me a little bit of a cape with a side of bodysuit and a whole lot of leg (and the hair was giving me an Ariana Grande vibe…no shade though). She did that. Steal!
Ricky Martin
We had to show some love to Mr. Livin’ La Vida Loca for not only looking sleek in his suit, but for making sure to spread more awareness about the kidnapped girls in northern Nigeria with his #bringbackourgirls sign.
Jordin Sparks
In a Michael Costello LBD (little black dress), Jordin Sparks decided to go with a more laid-back look for the red carpet. While I think the dress is pretty, I’m a little confused by the choice to go with cornrows and I’m not loving the basic shoes. Jordin’s a cutie, but I’m going to have to say stop for this look.
Rocsi Diaz
The hard working Entertainment Tonight correspondent came to the awards in a LBD of her own, rocking a Cushnie et Ochs dress with cut outs and some simple black heels. Not a fan of the super tight top knot (sorry to top knot lovers everywhere), but I do love the dress. Steal!
Ludacris
I’m all about folks getting that check (especially with Ludacris’ child support drama), and Luda is getting a big one (I assume…) as host of tonight’s festivities. Thankfully hosting gigs give you the chance to switch up ensembles, because this one was here was a little much…but not enough. According to my boyfriend, the shirt and tie combo is a little loud, and the shoes are a little too…clunky. Thanks, but no thanks.
Shakira
Rocking Julien McDonald, Shakira hit the Awards showing off her banging post-baby body. Her hair looked great, as always, but I’m not crazy about the dress and shoe combination. Lovely lady, but I’ll have to say stop this time around.
