As we broke to you on Valentine’s Day, Michael Ealy told Steve Harvey on his talk show that he and wife Khatira Rafiqzad actually brought a child into the world some time ago, but just never told anyone. Why? Because he’s never understood why people share something so private with complete strangers. Of course, this wasn’t the first time that Ealy kept such big news to himself. Who could forget when he got married in October 2012, but didn’t let people know until almost the very end of that year that he was taken for good (a big shock considering no one knew he had a girlfriend for YEARS)?

Well, at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Event (which also celebrated men this year), Ealy was asked about why he felt the need to keep his growing family private:

“Yeah, well. I’m not really, you know me. I just don’t believe in…I’m not that kind of guy. You know what I mean? And while I treasure the birth of my son and it is a blessing from God, I don’t feel like sharing it with everyone.  It’s always the best way to treasure it. Sometimes it’s nice. Especially those first couple of months when nobody knows and you’re able to just enjoy fatherhood…you know what I mean? Without the drama from the outside. ‘Cuz sometimes that can lead to more drama.”

Quite a mouthful, right? But I think Ealy just wanted to avoid any negativity from people on the outside. We all know a lot of negativity was thrown his way after people found out about his wife, so I totally get it. Some things aren’t meant for the world to talk about and bask in, and with all the children we see getting scared by paparazzi or finding themselves in car accidents because their famous parents are being chased for pictures, I can understand his want for privacy, especially for his son, Elijah. But what do you think?
