(Wall Street Journal) — Democrat Kamala Harris, San Francisco’s district attorney, became California’s new attorney general after three weeks of seesaw vote tallies that made it too close to call a winner, until Wednesday when her Republican opponent conceded defeat.  Election results as of Thursday afternoon showed Ms. Harris ahead 46% to 45.4%, with a lead of 58,000 out of more than nine million votes cast.  The victory for Ms. Harris, considered by many to be a rising political star, completes a Democratic sweep for statewide offices in the Nov. 2 election, when Democrats also bolstered their majority in the state legislature and retained all their U.S. House seats.
