Getting older certainly isn’t easy and while some men age with grace and dignity, these 15 stars have been anything but graceful. And quite honestly, we think they’re going through something, say a mid-life crisis?
John Kerry ran for president in 2008, but after losing out to the incumbent President Bush, Kerry went back to work on Capitol Hill as a senator. Earlier this year, President Obama tapped Kerry to replace Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State. And while he has a lot on his plate dealing with various international issues and the recent events of a chemical gas attack in Syria, Kerry’s change of appearance has a lot of people talking. Sixty-nine-year-old Kerry’s droopy face has been looking less droopy and even a little wider. His rep attributes the new look to exhaustion but a bad Botox injection or recent plastic surgery to the face can also be the cause, as some have speculated.
Fans of “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” tuned in every week to see the wild and crazy antics from the cast, but the show’s only stable couple began to show cracks in its foundation on season 2. Rapper Rasheeda and her husband/manager Kirk were having problems in their marriage, which played out on national television. Stressed out over money, criminal issues with a son from a previous relationship, and a pregnant wife who didn’t understand, Kirk’s midlife crisis helped him run into the arms of not one, but two women. His romp at the lake house was the last straw for Rasheeda, who kicked him out of the house for good and spoke to a divorce lawyer. However, things are looking up for Kirk. Rasheeda recently gave birth to their son Karter with her husband by her side.
Perhaps one of the greatest filmmakers of his time, Woody Allen’s long body of work may forever be overshadowed by his third marriage. Allen was in a monogamous relationship with actress Mia Farrow for 10 years when, at the age of 57, he began to lose interest in Farrow and started seeing her adopted daughter, Soon Yi, who was barely 20 at the time. Undeterred by the age gap, Allen spoke about his love for the much younger woman. “The heart wants what it wants. There’s no logic to those things. You meet someone and you fall in love, and that’s that.” They have two adopted daughters together and have been married since 1997.
John Travolta has always been a very private person. The Hollywood star and devoted Scientologist married wife Kelly Preston in 1991 but that hasn’t stopped reports surfacing about his alleged gay lovers. Last summer, numerous men stepped forward with claims of affairs with the Pulp Fiction star, but even stranger than that was Travolta’s new appearance. Showing up at an industry event, the 59-year-old actor had a newly chiseled face. Some suggested Travolta went under the knife to have some work done on his jaw while other speculated he received cheek implants. Although he never addressed the rumors of plastic surgery, Travolta was adamant that the rumors of him sleeping with other men were completely false.
Joey Lawrence got his first break with the sitcom “Gimme A Break!” before landing the role of big brother on “Blossom.” Lawrence became a household name and a teen heartthrob, but after the show was cancelled, the Philadelphia native disappeared from the public eye. He reemerged as a contestant on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” in 2006 and was soon rocking a close-shaven haircut. A few years and a full head of hair later, Lawrence was once again making headlines, but this time he was accused of receiving a hair transplant and possibly liposuction. “It appears that he, like many stars and athletes today, decided on a transplant using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), the procedure is favored by many to the traditional strip harvesting,” said hair loss expert Dr. Alan Bauman. No one 37 should look this artificial.
While most people may have never heard the name “Benzino” before, his work was well known. Co-creator of The Source magazine, Benzino helped the publication grow and become hip-hop’s bible. Although his music career didn’t take off, Benzino, real name Raymond Scott, did spark a beef with Detroit rapper Eminem. Getting a second chance at fame, Benzino joined the cast on VH1’s “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” and he has used the show to showcase his sub-par music. Going directly at his brother and fellow castmate Stevie J, Benzino recorded a song about Stevie J’s girlfriend and artist Joseline Hernandez. Called “Smash The Homie,” Benzino eluded to sleeping with her and had even featured a Joseline lookalike in the video. Benzino has admitted to never actually smashing Joseline and has apologized to Stevie J. Tell us what 48-year-old does that?
Tyson Beckford got his start on the runways and became one of the most famous male models as the face of Ralph Lauren. Relatively staying out of the public eye for many years, Beckford emerged last year causing a bit of controversy. While talking about his model girlfriend, Shanina Shaik, Beckford got a little cocky: “When I found her she was a regular girl. I helped place her with the right people, get her teeth cleaned, her body toned up. Everything changed and now everyone wants a piece of her. I hear people say, ‘You can do better than Tyson.’ I’m like, ‘Really? Really?! I created her!’ “ Beckford also showed some signs of immaturity by taking pictures with his middle finger extended. Beckford has explained the middle finger is for negative people but that doesn’t make it right. Are you 12 or 42?
About a decade ago, Terrence Howard saw his popularity grow with his roles in such films as Crash, Ray and Four Brothers. Although he has become one of Hollywood’s go-to Black actors, Howard’s image has been tarnished as of late due to his personal life. His split from second wife, Michelle Ghent, has been less than amicable. Ghent has accused the Hustle & Flow star of becoming physically violent on several occasions and has the bruises to prove it. This isn’t the first woman to accuse Howard of domestic violence. He was arrested in 2001 for attacking his first wife. Not helping his public image, Howard also made disturbing comments about his The Butler co-star Oprah Winfrey saying he had fun playing with her “tig ole bitties” while filming their love scene. How childish!
Eddie Murphy used to joke about having a wife take half his money in his earlier stand up days but he ended up tying the knot at the age of 32 to a model. Their union lasted for more than a decade but once he became a bachelor again, the Beverly Hills Cop got right back into the dating game. Although he was with a few high-profile women, including Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown, the mother of his last child, Murphy has been keeping company with a bevy of beautiful women much younger than him. Most recently, 52-year-old Murphy has been seen around town with a 34-year-old blonde beauty. Murphy previously dated 29-year-old Rosci Diaz before dumping her last year. Does that not scream midlife crisis?
He may be the last child out of ten siblings but there is no excuse for Marlon Wayans’ behavior on social media. The 41-year-old funny man has been picking virtual fights with other celebs. A few years ago, the Scary Movie star got into it with radio personality Charlemagne the God. Fellow comedian Kevin Hart also sparred with Wayans on twitter, as did rapper Joe Budden, who didn’t take too kindly to Wayans calling the Slaughterhouse member a one-hit wonder. Wayans hasn’t shown any maturity on instagram. He has posted photos making fun of other celebrities including Kanye West, Drake, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj.
Harrison Ford has had a very successful career in Hollywood starring in more than 50 movies and becoming one of the highest-grossing box office stars ever. By his side for more than 20 years was second wife Melissa but soon after the Clear & Present Danger star turned 60, the once stable marriage was in grave jeopardy. Ford’s eyes started to wander and he moved on and began dating someone more than 20 years his junior: Calista Flockhart. After his divorce was finalized, Ford, who started rocking an earring while hitting up the clubs, and Flockhart officially became a couple and then became one in a Santa Fe, NM wedding in 2010.
There’s no disputing Charlie Sheen’s epic bad boy behavior. His penchant for street workers and coke is well known but in 2011 his hard partying ways began to interfere with his job on “Two and a Half Men.” The show’s creator, Chuck Lorre, called Sheen out for his behavior and soon the highest paid television actor began to publicly spiral out of control. Sheen was fired from the show and in retaliation Sheen publicly trashed Lorre and the show with a series of interviews and YouTube videos, becoming a fixture in pop culture in the process with the tag line, “Winning!” Sheen would not remain unemployed for long. He’s currently starring in the FX comedy “Anger Management.”
Johnny Depp was one of Hollywood’s sexiest and most eligible bachelors before the “Finding Neverland” star settled down for good with model girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. The two lived a relatively low-key life in Paris raising their two children but a few years ago, reports surfaced that Depp’s sudden change in behavior was as a result of a midlife crisis. “Johnny was on a bit of a downward spiral for the past year or so,” a friend admits. “He was drinking and partying more than he probably should.” Paradis split from Depp in early 2012 telling him to come back “when he got it out of his system.”
Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon were one of Hollywood’s most stable and politically active couples. Although they never tied the knot, the duo was together for more than two decades and had two children together. But towards the end of 2009, Robbins had re-evaluated everything in his life and determined that it was time to make a change, including his relationship status. “A midlife crisis – I think we all go through something, it’s inevitable, it’s unavoidable. You’re staring some kind of frightening thing down. It’s when you pass 40, inherently we double our age when we think about life.” Taking a break from acting, Robbins decided to put his feelings into songs for an album that has yet to be released.
Actor Mel Gibson has had a long career in Hollywood that has seen many ups and downs. His 2004 film Passion of the Christ film was deemed as anti-Semitic by many. Although the film was a blockbuster hit, Gibson had a hard time getting much of Hollywood’s movers and shakers to return a call. To make matters worse, Gibson’s wife of 26 years filed for divorce soon after pictures surfaced of the Braveheart star embracing another woman. Gibson was soon publicly dating a very pregnant Russian pianist. But even that relationship wouldn’t last. Oksana became the target of Gibson’s venom, physically hurting her and threatening her over the phone. In a leaked voicemail, Gibson said among many other things that if Oksana was “raped by a pack of [N-word], it would be her fault.” Gibson has apologized for his actions and pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges.
