The death of Gary Coleman is still a mystery to those who knew and loved him, but his death is being plagued by reports that his marriage to Shannon Price did in fact end in divorce at the time of his death.
Coleman’s former lawyer contends that the couple had their marriage annulled almost two years prior to his death. “I can confirm that they’ve been divorced since August 12, 2008,” said attorney Randy Kester who oversaw the divorce. The divorce documents were kept secret until it circulated on ETOnline Wednesday, indicating that the couples’ names were listed as John and Jane Doe, fictitious names.
The attorney admits that it was Gary Coleman’s decision to keep their divorce discreet and out of public view. The spectacle of their divorce also calls into question whether Price, 24, was legally permitted to make medical decisions on Coleman’s life, or even proceed with the funeral arrangements regarding his estate as planned. Price made the final decision to take Coleman, 42, off life support. The 911 tapes released on Wednesday showed that Price initially avoiding him medical treatment. Price has corroborated with the Utah medical center to release the documents.
