The MTV Video Music Awards, held Sunday night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, was full of red, white and blue…and every other color in the rainbow. From will.i.am’s futuristic blackface to Nicki Minaj and her cotton candy hair, guests at this award show went all out with their “fashion” choices and left much to be desired.
We usually love Rihanna’s fashion choices, but her get-up last night had us scratching our heads. While wearing a cream bustier and tutu skirt, Rihanna’s newly extended red hair was adorned with a headband for her guest set with Eminem. For her “Kanye song,” Taylor Swift wore an demure white strapless dress, and for his “Taylor song,” Kanye wore a red suit and kicks. Lady Gaga didn’t perform, but she changed outfits–two with spiked mohawks and one was her raw meat outfit–for each of the three awards she accepted and showed off her white hair with baby blue-colored tips.
Flip through and let us know who was the best of the night…and the worst!
Eva Marcille was cropped and blond in a feathery mini dress. Look at the platforms on her shoes. Love it!
Rihanna’s B.F.F. Katy Perry said she felt like an ice skater in her mini black and white Marchesa dress. We’d have to agree, Katy.
Will.i.am and Nicki Minaj look out of this world. He received many thumbs down for the face makeup.
Drake kept it simple and classy in a black suit.
Rosario Dawson added some heat to the white hot carpet in a purple leather dress and emerald green heels.
Ciara wore Givenchy Haute Couture in feathers and lace. Interesting shoe choice, but OK, we see how the bottom of the dress blends with the shoe.
Someone tweeted that Trey Songz looked like he was headed to the mall. What do you think?
Taylor Swift went for old-fashioned glam with a finger-waved hairdo and Dolce & Gabbana strapless cream dress. No shoes.
Kanye closed the show and debuted an unreleased song called “Runaway.”
Lady Gaga in her first outfit of the night.
Usher looked like he just wanted to go inside and perform.
Ne-Yo came with his signature smile and an all-gray look.
Hey Justin, what’s up with some new music? Timberlake has been busy starring in the feature film “Social Network,” about the Facebook creators. The movie hits theaters next month.
Of course, the “Jersey Shore” cast was there.
Who called Cher? The singer, 64, had on the same bodysuit she wore 21 years ago in her “If I Could Turn Back Time” video as she presented the Video of the Year award to Lady Gaga.
Amber Riley of “Glee” wore a black strapless mini with combat boots similar to Rihanna’s.
Pharrell Williams rocked his Billionaire Boys Club style with a military jacket.
Usher and Justin Bieber pose for the cameras.
Ice Cube and his wife, Kim, made a cute carpet couple.
Lady Gaga and “Making The Band” choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson shared a big kiss on the white carpet.
