The Viewers’ Choice Debacle
What has probably been written as the most embarrassing and likely contrived moments of the BET Awards thus far came last year when a 106th Park fan, Tiffany Green, won the contest to present the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice award. Green announced the winner as Chris Brown, as that what was stated on the tablet she was holding which had the winner’s name. However, the teleprompter stated Rihanna’s name and that’s what Terrance J and Rocsi went with. Rapper Drake came on stage to accept the award on Rih’s behalf just to add even more spiciness to the drama. Green immediately went back stage and took to Twitter to clear her name and place the blame on BET. By the end of the show, host Kevin Hart came back out to announce that the real winner of the award, in fact, was Chris Brown. Oh BET, you’re so messy.
