MadameNoire Featured Video

Ooo la la. Our featured product today, the Huetiful Hair Steamer claims that it caters to the unique needs of curly and wavy hair, so we decided to try it out. The makers of the product say that it restores moisture a whopping five times better than deep conditioners alone. Could this steamer actually be giving Dominican salons a run for their money?

As editors of the Madame Noire team wear natural curls and waves enough times, it’s super easy to head for the Dominican salons for a signature “Dominican-style” conditioning. That process takes about two hours, if you have a ton of hair like yours truly. With Huetiful, the setup is about two minutes and if you use it properly, it actually conditions your hair, steams it, and gets rid of potentially itchy scalp. Here’s what we gathered:

Claim: Hydrates hair 5x more effectively than conditioners alone

Experience: Hair does feel well-conditioned and Hot after use.

Claim: Helps reduce breakage and split ends caused by dry hair

Experience: Over time and with continued use, we’ll see how breakage is handled, but so far, so good.

Claim: Reduces risk of dandruff by improving scalp health

Experience: Not convinced any product can reduce “risk” of dandruff, since dry scalp can be caused by many factors e.g. nutrition, weather…However, the satin feel of the hair after use, is evidence that the hair is deeply conditioned, and therefore less prone to dandruff.

Claim:  Light weight and convenient; can be easily stored and set up in under 2 minutes

Experience: Of course you can’t fit it in your purse, but it’s worth the carriage.

How it works: Warm steam opens up the hair cuticles and allows the moisturizing agents in conditioners and hair treatments to be absorbed deeply into the hair shaft.

Our rating: 4.5/ 5 stars
