This June, Black Feminist Future is set to host one of the largest Black feminist gatherings of our time—and MadameNoire will be joining in on the festivities as a partner.

Taking place June 5–7 in New Orleans, at the Hyatt Regency, “Get Free: A Black Feminist Reunion” is more than a conference. It’s a call to collective action. Designed as a bold, strategic gathering, it will bring together hundreds of Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people for a weekend of deep learning, joyful connection, and transformative organizing.

At its core, “Get Free” is about strengthening the power and reach of the Black feminist movement. Against the backdrop of rising authoritarianism and entrenched inequality, this reunion is a space to sharpen our tools, expand our visions, and reimagine a liberated future together.

Over the two-day reunion, participants will engage in leadership development, immersive advocacy training, and vibrant storytelling—all aimed at nurturing a powerful sense of solidarity and community resilience. The weekend will feature three focused workshop events: “Joyful Connection,” a celebration of sustaining feminist bonds through care and community; “Skill Building,” which will provide Black feminists with the knowledge to build practical tools and organizing strategies for collective liberation; in addition to “Consciousness Building,” a workshop aimed at deepening political awareness and shaping radical visions for change.

Attendees will also be able to hear from some of the most influential voices in Black feminism today. Legendary activist, scholar, author, and former Black Panther Party member Angela Y. Davis—who will also be honored at the event—will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for this powerful gathering. The lineup of featured speakers and presenters includes renowned changemakers such as Ericka Huggins, Brittney Cooper, Charlene Carruthers, and Malkia Cyril, each bringing deep insight, lived experience, and revolutionary vision to the stage.

Additionally, the reunion will celebrate the creative and cultural force of Black feminist expression through dynamic programming like the Scenes of Solidarity Film Festival—a two-day cinematic showcase (June 6–7, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.) honoring the vision of Black feminist filmmakers—along with the Irresistible Revolution Art Gallery, a curated exhibition spotlighting powerful visual works by Black feminist artists. These are just a few of the vibrant activations that will uplift art as a tool for resistance, storytelling, and collective healing.

Black Feminist Future has remained committed to cultivating visionary leadership, amplifying aligned movements, and shifting the cultural landscape toward liberation for Black women far and wide since its inception in 2014.

“Black feminist movements provide an essential framework for challenging and dismantling the interconnected systems of power that perpetuate inequality, particularly those that intersect along lines of race, gender, class, sexuality, and ability,” said Paris Hatcher, the Executive Director of Black Feminist Future, in a statement. “Get Free 2025 is more than a convening; it’s a space to foster the relationships, strategies, and tools that strengthen our movement’s reach and impact.”
