What is an emotional board? How do you create an emotional vision board? Questions that need answers!

As you may already know, vision boards are collections of images, drawings, and other visuals arranged together to represent your goals and ambitions in a variety of areas of your life. An emotional board is a similar concept to a vision board but it’s elevated to honor the emotions and the emotional body which is the secret key to truly manifesting what you deeply desire.

Emotional boarding is a signature tool that I created for myself and for my coaching clients. This is a method to help you create the feelings that you wish to experience in whatever experience you are calling in. Often we’ll place things on our vision board – like a great new job – assuming that will make us happy but it doesn’t always because we forget to include the emotions of how we want to feel in this space. To me, an emotional board is the main ingredient behind the vision board and the way that we manifest with an emotional board will include both visualization and feeling! Plus, what you physically place onto the board will include feeling, images, or words.

Just like a vision board, an emotional board is about manifesting what you wish to bring to life.

Like a vision board, you will use images that represent what you want, but you will also use spelled out words on pieces of paper that describe how you want to feel when you achieve the goals you (PSST: Don’t worry, I have a list of feeling words below). For example: If you wish to be married you would place an image of a couple on their wedding day and then anywhere near that image or even on top, you would place the words: “happy,” “joyful,” “excited,” etc.

Next, you’ve got to “work” your board. Like a vision board, you’re going to want to do the following:

  • Place it somewhere you can see it everyday
  • Spend 10 minutes daily looking over the board and thinking about the life you want
  • Conjure up the emotions you want to feel while having what you want

Example: Let’s say you place a photo up of a couple getting married and in full wedding gear. Instead of just looking at this photo and imagining yourself getting married, you will actually make yourself feel the joy and love that you want to experience in this partnership. The key here is to literally “go crazy” pretending that you are experiencing this emotion in real time and actually start moving into it with all your heart. You can even scream out loud how you want to feel in this partnership: i.e. “On my wedding day and in my marriage I want to feel loved, blissful, happy and confident that I made the right choice in choosing my partner!”
