Taco Bell Reward Members in San Diego, California, received a taste of early retirement when the fast food chain debuted The Cantinas earlier this month.

The Cantinas, an early retirement community and retreat for dedicated Taco Bell customers, were offered to those enrolled under their rewards program on Aug. 17 and Aug. 18. The senior citizen-inspired gathering included activities like crochet classes, bingo, pickleball, and poolside cocktails, according to the press release.

Upon announcing the unique experience, Taco Bell fans clamored to get a coveted spot at The Cantinas, with the brand charging $150 for a “weekend membership” that included overnight accommodation and dining. Other fast food fanatics forked out $50 for a day pass that gave access to activities, according to the New York Post. The elderly-inspired event was open to San Diego customers 21 and over.

“More than just a weekend getaway, it’s a chance to embrace and fuel youth culture’s slow living, senior-at-heart lifestyle,” a description for The Cantinas read. “Wake up to an early morning tee time, grab your friends for aerobics, pass the time with crochet classes, arts and crafts, and pickleball all before drifting off to sleep at 8 p.m. after an early bird dinner.”

What else happened at the event?

From leading activity classes and fostering a community of retiree vibes to ensuring no retirees were left behind, The Cantinas Board of Directors made sure that the two-day getaway was filled with good vibes and community.

Internet personality, Joey Zauzig, as the director of Retiree Vibes, brought energy and 100 plus aura points all weekend long, especially while hosting his very own pickleball tournament. Social media comedian, Terri Joe, lit up the event as the Live Más Bell(e), helping guests live out their early retiree dreams as the extra fiery guide on the Walking Club courses.

“We’re rewriting the script for life beyond Retirement!” Taco Bell shared in a statement. “Retirement is anything but boring, it’s an opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones and play every day.”

If Taco Bell Rewards members missed out on the exclusive experience at The Cantinas, they were still able to enjoy some perks from the fun event. Dedicated customers had the chance to receive free Taco Bell delivery where members were able to relax at home with free delivery on all Taco Bell orders made through the app, just by placing an order of $15 or more between Aug. 15 and Aug. 18. Taco Bell’s biggest fans had the opportunity to win an exclusive pickleball set from The Cantinas during an online contest held on Aug. 20.
