If anyone would know the tea surrounding celebrities from the late nineties and early 2000s, it’s Wendy Williams.
Last week, we reported that Irv Gotti was feeling hesitant about the Murder Inc. reunion tour because he didn’t want to have to interact with his former girlfriend Ashanti. In the clip for the show, he didn’t exactly discuss what happened between the two of them to cause them to fall out. I just assumed something foul happened throughout the course of their relationship.
But recently on her show, Wendy offered some insight into what happened. Wendy generally gets her tea right. But this is even more trustworthy considering she calls Irv a friend.
Wendy: Because she might slip into your bed?…
We talked to Ja Rule about this and he referred to Ashanti as sister. Now, back when I was on radio, I couldn’t figure out which one was screwing around with Ashanti. Was it Ja or Irv. But somebody was doing something. And I talked about it on the radio but you all hated on me. Now, you see what’s happening.
Wendy suggested that Ashanti go on tour and just stay down the hall and away from Irv.
Her correspondent, entertainment journalist Devyn Simone said, “The reason they fell out is not because they had the fair. It’s because when he got caught up in court cases, she wasn’t there to support him.”
Wendy said since they both knew what it was when they signed up, she couldn’t understand why Irv would expect her to be there, as if she was his wife.
For those who may have forgotten about Irv’s legal troubles, they had to do with him and his brother being accused of using their record label to launder $1 million in drug money.
The Gotti brothers regularly accepted money from a known drug dealer, their defense lawyers argued that they were funded by Island Def Jam. Ultimately, a jury ruled in their favor. Good thing because they were facing twenty years in jail, if convicted.
I guess because Ja Rule stood by his side, Irv expected the same treatment from Ashanti. But given the fact that he referred to her as a “b*tch who was there to suck his d*ck,” I’d say she made the right choice.
