Now, I can’t really explain to you how or why singer and rapper Lizzo turned a thong, 3/4 quarter length top and denim boots into an outfit, but I can tell you that her confidence while wearing the look was at its peak — despite the side-eye of a woman in her presence.
The 31-year-old “Good as Hell” singer traveled to Italy for the finale of the reality singing competition show The Voice of Italy, and at some point, she found the time to strike a fierce pose in a lace thong, black top and denim boots. In the photo of her look, a woman was standing in the corner, squinting, not sure what to make of the star’s ensemble. Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, zoomed in on the woman’s face while captioning the pictures, “Italy was fun!”
People in the comment section of her post celebrated Lizzo’s boldness while also throwing plenty of shade at the Croc-wearing woman in the corner.
“Home girl is jelly because her back I mean butt wants to look like that,” one person said.
“Girl – you can’t be judging nobody with Crocs on,” said another.
“Donatella Versace is clearly shook,” wrote another fan.
Lizzo is, of course, a big body positive advocate. She has spoken often about the journey it’s been to openly embrace her curves.
“I’m not going to be able to please everyone with my outward appearance,” she said in a chat with Jameela Jamil for I Weigh Conversations. “Someone’s always going to have a critique, someone’s always going to have some negativity to say about me. So all that matters is what I think of it. And I had to go so deep inside myself and look in the mirror. Looking in the mirror and accepting what’s in the mirror is very, very difficult. And right now, I love it every time I look in the mirror.”
