We will never forget that back when Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, there were people who pointed out that the child had the same name as a woman the rapper used to be involved with: singer Blu Cantrell. Interesting enough, Cantrell had her own thoughts about it.
“Of course I want to say congratulations to Jay-Z & Beyonce on having a healthy, & happy baby girl!!” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “I love her name :-).”
However, that was just a coincidence. And Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams says it’s also a coincidence that her newborn, Pilar, has the same name as the ex of her fiancé, Dennis McKinley.
This is revealed on her new RHOA spinoff, Porsha’s Having a Baby. During her visit to Watch What Happens Live this past Sunday, she was asked about it, and whether or not McKinley has the woman’s name on his body, since he has a track record of tatting the names of women in his life on him.
“That name is not tattooed on him!” Porsha said during the chat. “No, it is not. He just recently got a PJ tattoo, but the ex’s name, Pilar, is actually her name. Pillar, like a pillar? I’m lying, I’m lying [laughs]. It is Pilar. But no, it’s not tattooed. If it was, then he wouldn’t have to go and get another one for his daughter. ”
Interesting, indeed.
Soon after announcing that she was expecting last year, Williams and McKinley referred to their unborn baby as PJ. Once she was born, they announced that they chose to go with Pilar Jhena’ McKinley. The reason for doing so, of course, had nothing to do with any former flames.
“It is taken from the title of the Virgin Mary, Maria del Milar, meaning ‘Mary of the Pillar’” she wrote on Instagram. “According to legend, when Saint James the Greater was in Saragossa in Spain, the Virgin Mary appeared on a pillar.”
“How do I pronounce her name? So, it is Pi-LAR,” she said in an Instagram Live video in April. “So it’s Pi-LAR Juh-NAY McKinley. Daddy loves the name, don’t you? But he calls her PJ.”
Now we have a better understanding as to why he might be sticking to PJ.
