Screenwriting is the backbone of Hollywood. Writers create the foundation from which films and television shows build upon. Becoming a screenwriter, however, is not an easy endeavor. One’s chances for getting a staff writing position on a television show or being tapped by a studio to pen a film relates just as much to skill as to who you know in the industry. The Organization of Black Screenwriters in Los Angeles California helps support African-American scribes by supporting their craft and also helping members to network with other writers and industry insiders. We talked to Jennifer Williams, President of OBS, to learn more about the organization and its work.
