For a long time, the wellness industry has been synonymous with white women, but Christina Rice is making sure women of color and living well — or in OM — go hand in hand. Rice is the founder of OMNoire, “a social wellness community for women of color dedicated to living well from the inside out.” The platform provides healthy living tips on its website and plenty of inspiration on the ‘gram, but some of its most impactful efforts come by way of the organization’s live events, which include retreats like the upcoming Glow In OM wellness summit Presented by Tropicana Essentials Probiotics and supporting sponsor Quaker being held at the 5-star Miraval Resort & Spa April 25-28.
OMNoire hosted its first wellness getaway, the Glow Up Wellness Retreat, in Grenada October 5-9, 2017 with 50 women, followed by two more retreats in Barbados and the Poconos with 30-plus women each. Now, OMNoire will have its biggest retreat yet: 75 women in Tucson, Arizona, enjoying four days of sisterhood, workshops centered on emotional, mental, relationship, and financial wellness, reproductive health, and more, fitness activities, adventure, and, most important, relaxation. One of those lucky women is leukemia survivor Angela Clary who won OMNoire’s giveaway, allowing her to attend the retreat for free.
A tribe of amazing women will be speaking during the retreat, including Financial Wellness Expert Allyson Byrd, Tech Pioneer and Cancer Survivor Angela Benton, Wellness Coach Brandi Harvey, Author Demetria Lucas, Meditation Teacher Devi Brown, Mental Health Expert La Shell Wooten, and OBGYN Dr. Kiarra King. Each day is marked by key wellness sessions in the morning, like meditation and yoga, with dedicated self-care/me time in the evenings. And we can’t forget about the spa credit included in the packages, which also cover all meals, all complimentary Miraval activities, and transportation to the resort from the airport. There will also be a marketplace for attendees to shop various vendors while on site.
