Sister Trio Among Those Honored for Can Do Spirit
(The State) — Five years ago, Twana, Victoria and Tiffanie Williams of Northeast Richland noticed people honking and making angry gestures at their aunt, then-15-year-old Chestina Perry, who was learning to drive. So the three – then 9, 10 and 11 — made a magnetic sign that said “Teenage Driver. Be Patient” and put it on her car. The results were that other drivers chilled out and gave Perry a break. Today, the Williams sisters have sold or donated more than 10,000 signs through their website drivesafesigns.com and formed the nonprofit foundation Smart Teens Drive Safe and Smart Kids Ride Safe. The foundation urges teenagers drop the phone when driving, and to not distract the driver when riding.
