(New York Times) — Drivers who pay cash to traverse many of the region’s major tunnels and bridges will pay significantly more by the end of this year, while E-ZPass users will see more modest increases, as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Wednesday approved the final stage of this year’s big toll and fare increases.  The authority voted 12 to 1 to raise the one-way cash toll at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to $13 from $11, and increase cash tolls by $1, to $6.50, on five other major crossings: the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and the Throgs Neck Bridge.
