You can say a lot about Rasheeda and Kirk Frost‘s marriage based on what you see on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta (a whole lot of foolishness), but if you ask them, the couple have something worth fighting for. As of this week, they’ve been fighting for it for 19 years as man and wife.
The pair wed in 1999, and were together years before then. They’ve done it all in the years since. They welcomed two sons, they’ve done this music thing with Frost as her manager, they’ve done reality TV, opened stores, worked through infidelity and the children born through it, as well as a separation, and they’ve managed to keep their love alive through it all. Not necessarily #relationshipgoals, but if they like it, we can dig it.
She told our sister site HelloBeautiful that she wasn’t going to let people pressure her into feeling like she needed to leave Kirk if she didn’t want to.
“I know people who would’ve left and I know people who have been through way, way worse and stayed and have overcome their obstacles,” she said. “People make mistakes and bad things happen. I make mistakes; he makes mistakes. Sometimes you have to step back and you have to say, ‘OK, let me reevaluate this situation.’ That doesn’t always mean divorce.”
“If you decide that you can’t take anymore, make your decision, but don’t let anyone else make it for you,” she added. “Will I take some more sh-t? There’s no room for error!”
That was in 2014 though, and there have been more errors, but there has also been forgiveness and reconciliation. And some cute pictures.
To show some love to their unconventional relationship, we thought we’d check out photos of the couple in happier times. Hit the flip to see them:
