Just a few months ago Eddie Murphy, 57, announced he and his fiancé’ Paige Butler, 39, were expecting a second baby.
The couple welcomed their son, Max Charles Murphy, on Friday, November 30, weighing 6 lbs. and 11 oz.
“Both mother and son are doing well,” Murphy’s rep said in an interview with People Magazine.
Murphy named his son as a tribute to his late brother Charles Murphy who died on April 12, 2017 from leukemia at the age of 57.
Murphy and Butler welcome Max to their expanding family, already the parents to a two-year-old daughter Izzy Oona.
The comedian and Oscar nominee has eight other children from previous relationships. He is the father to Eric, 29, and Christian, 28, with former girlfriends Paulette McNeely and Tamara Hood, and with his ex-wife Nicole Murphy he has daughters Bella Zahra, 16, Zola Ivy, 18, Shayne Audra, 23, and Bria, 28, and son Miles Mitchell, 25. Murphy also has an 11-year-old daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, with Spice Girls’s Melanie “Mel B” Brown.
Paige and Murphy first met in 2006 on the set of Big Momma’s House 2, but did not begin dating until six years later in 2012.
The couple confirmed their pregnancy in August after Butler was spotted sporting her baby bump in Beverly Hills. In September they officially announced their engagement.
“They wished for a younger sibling for their daughter,” an insider told People. “They live a pretty low-key life. They are all about family. Paige is very close to Eddie’s kids.”
“They are a very special and happy family. They vacation and spend holidays together,” the source continued. “Paige loves being a mom and is very involved. She takes her daughter to the park and for play dates.”
Murphy has been vocal about his devotion to his children. “The brightest part of my life is my kids,” he told Entertainment Tonight in 2016. “My world revolves around them.”
