In the world of Hollywood relationships, friendships change and disappear at rapid speed; however, there are some, like the friendship between Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold, that stand the test of time, even through the rough patches.

Campbell and Arnold’s friendship dates back decades, as the pair first appeared onscreen together in the 1986 campy musical film Little Shop of Horrors, which ultimately led to them being the definition of #BestieGoals as Gina Waters and Pamela James on the iconic TV show Martin. Both talented and funny ladies were recently interviewed by PEOPLE while doing press rounds for their upcoming joint hosting gig at this year’s Soul Train Awards, which already taped and is slated to air on November 25.

During the interview, Campbell revealed that her divorce from actor Duane Martin actually helped to strengthen her friendship with Arnold, who also went through a messy divorce of her own a few years ago.”We reconnected, Tichina and I, and have not been separated since [my divorce.]”

Campbell acknowledged that she and Arnold were a bit estranged from each other and living their own lives for nearly a decade, despite their long history together. “We actually had a little bit of a split. She went and was living her life and I was living mine, and for about eight years we kinda just did that.”

Although, there was no beef between the two that caused their separation, both admitted that dealing with their marriages and raising their children definitely contributed to them not being as close for a while. Campbell simplified it saying exactly what happened after she filed for divorce. “And then all of a sudden we just came back together and there was this whole new relationship. [It’s] bigger, better, more beautiful, more sisterly.”

Tisha Campbell seems to be trying to strengthen other relationships these days as well. If you’ll recall, earlier this year she met up and was photographed with her Martin co-star Martin Lawrence for the first time since before the series ended back in 1997. The photos went viral and sparked rumors and wishes of a reboot of the popular series.

While the remaining co-stars of the series have remained coy about a possible reboot, you can catch Campbell currently recurring on the FOX hit series Empire and Arnold starring in the new CBS comedy The Neighborhood with Cedric The Entertainer.
