Telecoms Take the Dividend Crown
(Smart Money) — DIVIDENDS AND (MAYBE) STOCK PRICES are making a comeback. Last week, Virgil Calahong, an analyst in the global-dividend research division of Markit, a worldwide financial-information services provider, surveyed the yields of the S&P 500’s 10 major sectors. The table shows the top three yielders in each group. All the yields are 12-month, forward-looking returns, based on Markit’s forecasts. Sept. 8 share prices were used to calculate the yields and payouts through Sept. 8, 2011.
