#LivingMyBestLife: After More Than 180 Days Without Sugar, Sherri Shepherd Shows Off 30-Pound Weight Loss
Sherri Shepherd has been on a mission to cleanse her diet of sugar, especially since she was told that she was pre-diabetic years ago. After almost 200 days of ducking and dodging any and every food that has any sugar in it, she looks and feels great.
The 51-year-old comedian shared on Instagram that she had dropped more than 30 pounds and went down quite a few dress sizes after going half of the year without sweets.

She also shared her excitement over the fact that she can now tuck in her shirts with smooth results after years of having to wear them out to cover up “what I didn’t want you to see.” The small wins mean more than we tend to realize.

Am I dreaming or is the tuck in game real? I’ve always worn my shirt out to cover what I didn’t want you to see. Over 180 days off #sugar … I can’t begin to describe how good I feel & the #energy #focus & #peace I have. Do I want a #cheesecake ? Yeah I do but I want my #life and my #health more 👊🏾🙏🏾 (pants @bananarepublic #wig @jstayready_) #canecorso #sugaraddict #sugarfree #sherrishepherd #joy #singlemom #singlegirl #keto #kickboxing #jumprope #intermittentfasting #imnotdoneyet
During a recent interview with Wendy Williams, Shepherd talked about her efforts, and how her son, Jeffrey, inspired her to do an overhaul on her health.
“Sometimes you go through stuff and you want to just grab something sweet. Ex-husbands, things like that,” she joked. “And I was doing that and Jeffrey was in the backseat, Wendy, and I was eating something I wasn’t supposed to. He said, ‘Mommy, if you die, who’s going to be my bodyguard?’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ ‘Who’s going to watch me?’ And literally I said, ‘Sherri, you’ve got to do something different.'”
Despite having a rough start, as would anyone, and missing sugar, Shepherd has said that going without has allowed her to think more clearly, be less distracted and feel pretty wonderful.
“It’s been a long journey full of prayer, self-encouragement, wanting food, craving sugar … forgiveness when I fall, cajoling myself into the gym & onto a jump rope…” she wrote earlier this summer on Instagram. “thankful for the love & encouragement along the way of friends & some beautiful people I met on IG … at 168.4 lbs, I am still not where I want to be but I feel AMAZING!”
