At the end of May, Princess Love and Ray J welcomed their daughter Melody Love Norwood into the world. A month later, the parents decided to enjoy a date night by stepping out together for the first time since Melody’s birth for the BET Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.

And if you thought Princess was going to be covered from head to toe or go for something casual, you’re mistaken. The beauty bared a little side boob, hip and stomach in a shimmering black gown. She looked pretty fantastic, even though she didn’t walk the red carpet:

She and Ray J struck a few poses together from inside and outside the event:

Princess said they eventually decided to head home early from the awards show because she was missing Melody:

As we previously shared, Princess had a pretty rough labor. She attempted to have a natural birth and was in labor for 27 hours without an epidural until she was told she would require an emergency C-section.

“I planned on having a natural childbirth but ended up having an emergency c section after being in labor 28 hours, 27 hours with no epidural,” she said. “We found out Melody’s umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and feet which was causing me not to dilate past 3cm. But we’re so blessed, she was born 7lbs, 19 1/4 inches beautiful, happy and healthy.”

Melody is the first child for the couple, and conceiving her was originally a struggle that they were open about on Love and Hip Hop Hollywood. And while we obtained a glimpse at how the delivery went in Ray J’s music video for the song “Melody,” a full delivery special, with insight into how the pair prepped for the baby’s arrival, is set to premiere on VH1 at some point this summer.
