New Law Stamps Out Illegal Hotels
(Crain’s) — The New York state legislature passed a bill on Thursday that will make it much tougher to operate an illegal hotel in the city. The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan, and Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, D-Manhattan, clarifies ambiguities in state and city law that had made it impossible for government agencies to crack down on such properties.
