Cornrows By Ray Ray? Rachel Dolezal Is Starting A Hairstyling Business
As much as many of us are over the timeless “trans-racial” tale that is Rachel Dolezal, you may be surprised (or not) to see that the former civil rights activist and African Studies instructor is taking things to the next level.
VIBE reports that as of late, Dolezal has been displaying her hairstyling talents on social media and home girl is specializing in natural hair and braids. The 40-year-old has shared photos of her handy work on her Instagram page with all of her 10,300 followers which feature everything from cornrows to box braids on both male and female clients. It appears that the former NAACP leader is doing pretty decent work and recently secured herself a chair at Spokane’s Local Legendz barbershop.
Dolezal who was once known as “Nkechi Amare Diallo”, shared with The Guardian in 2017, that since her whole scandal broke about being born a white woman but choosing to live as a black woman, it hasn’t been easy to find gainful employment. She shared the only career opportunities offered to her in the wake of her racial scandal were in reality television and porn. Dolezal does in fact have a documentary coming to Netflix late in the spring titled The Rachel Divide (whoever came up with that title deserves a nice bonus). She also has published a children’s book addressing hair called Ebony Tresses.
