(Min Online) — As lines form at Apple stores this morning in anticipation of the iPhone 4 release, the iTunes app economy seems ready to expand yet again. But what is the value of the app economy to the developers and publishers who feed the insatiable appetite of app eaters? According to Piper Jaffray analyst and Apple guru Gene Munster, not so much just yet. In his count of the Apple iTunes catalog, 81% of the apps are free to users and the average cost of the top 50 paid apps is only $1.49. On the iPad, prices are inflated, with the top 30 paid apps averaging $4.66 each.
