The icon known as Diana Ross turns 74 today. And while she’s still making major moves in her older years (like headlining last year’s Essence Fest), we thought today was a good day to revisit how she achieved said status.

Of course we know Miss Ross for her beautiful voice, both as a solo artist and as a part of the Supremes, but it’s the combo of big hair, a bodacious wardrobe, and those bright eyes that made the Detroit native into the icon we’ve known and loved for decades.
