If you stand at a bar and look around at the groups of friends, observing them for a minute, it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly which ones plan on finding somebody that night. The ones in relationships are pretty demure. They’re not very loud, in any sense of the word (outfit, voice, behavior). What do they care? They have somebody at home. They’ve spent most of their Friday nights watching Netflix recently and they’re just happy to be out. But then there are the ones who are clearly on the prowl. And it’s okay to be on the prowl! Most single people are, whether they show it or not. But showing it can be a little off-putting. It can be intimidating and overwhelming to other people. So, are you clearly on the prowl when you go out? Here are the signs.

You insert yourself into others’ conversations

You keep finding your way into other friend groups’ conversations. If you hear them debating something you know the answer to, you pop in and say, “It’s this actually.” You seem to have one ear in your group, and one ear in everyone else’s, looking for any way to get in on a guys’ groups’ convo.

You dance when nobody else is dancing

You’re that person. It’s a laid-back night. People just want to play pool. But for some reason, you’re putting a very high energy or sexual song on the jukebox and dancing as if you’re in a music video.

You want to take a lot of photos

Single people just take more photos. Taking photos 1) Draws attention to you in the bar (lots of camera flashes and posing) 2) Brings you attention on your social media profiles and 3) Gives you a chance to ask strangers to take a photo of you.

You’re more done up than anyone else

You just didn’t seem to get the memo that this was a jeans and flip-flops kind of bar. You’re in a bustier top wearing fake eyelashes and tight pleather pants. You didn’t even Yelp this place before huh?

You keep leaving your group

You’re like a toddler who keeps wandering off. You have some errand to run on the other side of the bar constantly. Your friends barely see you. But you didn’t go out to be with your friends—you went out to meet men.

You scoff at the happy couples

You clearly scoff at the happy couples. Newsflash: people in happy couples never scoff at happy couples. So watch that resting bitch face when you see a pair snuggling in the corner.

You put your hands on men a lot

You’re very handsy. It seems very difficult for you to just speak to someone without putting your hand on their chest, arm, shoulder, waist, cheek…Women in relationships, or who just aren’t looking, tend to keep their hands to themselves in conversation.

You buy rounds nobody asked for

You seem to have a tray of drinks in your hands every time your friends look over at you. You’re intent on turning this into the type of night nobody else planned on having.

You’re rallying for some wild activity

You’re the one pushing for everyone to go to the karaoke place/the race tracks/the strip club after this. Everybody else wants to call it a night after this next drink, but you’re pushing your all-night agenda.

You’re getting drunker than everybody else

Your friend group is pretty composed, but you’re slurring your words and you’re a bit wobbly. You’re the only one doing shots. You’re getting pretty turnt when your friends are clearly just trying to relax.

You keep re-adjusting your outfit

You’re very aware of your cleavage, your Spanx, your lip gloss, your hair…you adjust something every few minutes. You position yourself by a window so you can check your reflection regularly.

You’re grinding on your female friends

You get really sexual with your female friends. They’re trying to dance in a fun way but you’re trying to dance in a way that will make male onlookers wonder if you’re lesbian lovers.

You laugh the loudest. Maybe nobody else is laughing

Anytime your group laughs a little, you throw your entire body into your laugh and cackle at volumes that probably woke nearby sleeping babies. You really want people to understand that your group is the most fun group.

You try to get behind the bar/DJ booth/somewhere off limits

You’re always pushing boundaries and trying to get into places you shouldn’t, like the DJ booth, behind the bar, the utilities closet…who knows.
