Webbed Toes And Clubbed Thumbs: Celebrities With Physical Deformities

These days, celebrities are held to a standard of near perfection. But in spite of their beauty, talent, glamour and charisma, celebrities are still just as imperfect as the rest of us. Whether it be webbed toes, clubbed thumbs, or third (and fourth!) nipples, you may be surprised at just how many of our favorite celebs have physical deformities.

Damon Wayans, Clubbed Foot

Funnyman Damon Wayans was born with a clubbed foot, a fairly common birth defect affecting nearly one in 1,000 people. As a child he underwent surgery to have the foot corrected.

this is the slowest website i have visited since 1996

  • Testosterone

Notice that the author used the word defect. There is nothing wrong with that word, if that is what it is. LBGT people are born with birth-defects that make them LGBT, and every time someone uses that word, they have a fit.

    • Stephen Masek

Webbed toes and extra nipples are so trivial that they are details, not defects. I’ve got partially webbed second and third toes and four nipples. Nothing all that unusual, as these celebrity examples illustrate. I’ve also got a top 2% IQ and am a Mensa member, another less common difference, but most would not call it a defect;)

Why would homosexuals have a fit? If you had to choose amongst the various common birth defects (downs, missing limbs, etc.), surely being homosexual is the least problematic. This is especially true at this point in history, and in the United States, Europe, and other “western” societies.

  • Silverstreak

When it comes right down to it, any “deformity” one has is just part of the body you have that carries YOU around.

  • Mark

I thought the best example would be Telly Savalas.

  • Mark

If having an injury that heals wrong or results in the loss of a piece of your body is called a deformity – then anyone with a scar, broken bone, amputation, removed appendix, removed tonsils, removed wisdom tooth – is deformed.

  • Mark

There are no such things as “vestigial” body parts. That myth was debunked by science many years ago. Typical media … no clue what truth is.

  • MDWhite

How about a piece “Self-Absorbed, Over-Indulged, Limo-Lib Celebrities with Their Heads Up Their Rear Ends”…nominees could include Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, George Clooney, Robert Redford, Chris Rock, Janeane Garafalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon…hold it…I’m getting writer’s cramp…Tim Robbins, Harry Belefonte, Bill Maher, Mike Farrell, Rosie O’Donnell, Rob Reiner, Martin Sheen, Viggo Mortensen, David Letterman…on and on and on.

    • Stephen Masek

I don’t know if being a big government pusher (but don’t tax them or take away their private jets and such) is a birth defect. If it is, we need to develop a cure ASAP.

  • Annon76

Yeah that Seal is one ugly mutha f*#ker

Celebrities? I have absolutely no idea who these people are! It may as well be a standard episode of Embarrassing Bodies lol

What in hell is wrong with people or websites that have to alter or blank out certain words as “pen*s”? For crying out loud, it’s not a vulgar or bad word. It is a legitimate medical term.

You take a person(s) as you see them even if they are deformed or disabled, its within your heart and soul that must be pure. as Michael Schumachers says and i quote “I am what i am.” and never stare at person(s) that is not normal and never ever mimic or laughter at them.

Re Forest Whitaker – that is not a lazy eye, that is called a ptosis. A lazy eye is when the actual eye ball itself turns inward or outward (or up or down) and isn’t controlled properly by the muscles surrounding the eye ball. A ptosis (which he has) is when the eye lid drops lower.

Good morning everyone, my name is Sandra from Pakistan, I have been suffering from
HIV/Aids for over 4years now, and suddenly, i have spent all my money all to make sure
i get healthy all day, but happily, last month January 12th 2013, I came in contact

with a traditional doctor also known as a chief priest on a newspaper who is called Dr
DRALABOKUN who has help much people to cure their aids disease, firstly i taught it was a
joke until i contacted him ” ‘dralabokun@gmail.com ” and he said that if i am ready

for this work, i told him yes, and he collected my details and told me that after he
has finished consulting his oracle he will run back to me on when to go for a medical
check up, i was unhealthy ling surprise. And truly last week Monday Dr alabokun called me

to quickly go for a medical checkup, which I did, only to find out that I was not with
any HIV disease anymore, my friends and families who left me before run back to me. I
now found out that God in Heaven is using this man to bless and heal us all, he is a

This article would have been a whole lot better if you showed the deformity and not a press picture

  • Poppy

“I had a tail when I was born. It was a tiny tail, about a quarter of an inch. Then they chopped it off and stole my tail.”

  • Rob

Re Damon Wayans, the expression is ‘club’ foot, not ‘clubbed’.

Anyway, why the focus on so-called deformities? Does this make the people concerned better or worse, whether as actors, comedians or human beings? The 19th century poet Lord Byron had a club foot. So what? He still wrote brilliantly evocative poetry.

Come on people, there are far more important things to focus on in this already cruel world. Drawing attention to people’s differences like this is glorified school bullying.

  • Steve Ayres

I haven’t hears of most of these people so I guess ‘celebrity’ is relative.

  • Janet Simon

What happened to Seals face? He is one amazing artist! Despite

why would humans have a tail? why would “god” do that? we clearly have one, but why? maybe the whole god thing is just a fairy tale (pun intended), just all the other myths early man created to try and explain all that they did not understand. Now that we have found the answers to so many mysteries, answers that don’t include any kind of invisible supernatural being, maybe it’s time people over came the years of religious brainwashing they were forced to endure and embrace reality!!!

  • onefineday

David Bowie has different coloured eyes, but I think it was due to an accident, not sure.

  • Suzanne Ennazus

I don’t agree that celebs are held to perfection. I’m always amazed how the celeb industry can manage to brainwash so many people into admiring complete, talentless trash, and call orange, over made up fake people style icons, when most people I see every day are more stylish.

  • Too Much Advertising

This comment is unrelated to the content of this piece. I really think MadameNoire should rethink its advertising strategy. I never get through any articles on this site because the amount of advertising is totally overwhelming and causes the slideslows to load very slowly. I just don’t have time to wait for 25 pages to load, and I’m not sure who does. In addition, the advertising makes the entire site look cluttered and unprofessional. Finally, I don’t understand the choice to have video advertising when the content is written– it’s so annoying and intrusive. Anyways, those are my two cents!

I already knew that Harry had four nipples. But that doesn’t change my feelings for him. We’re all different. I have extra skin in between the very top of my back and the base of my neck which makes the top of my back looked curved, and it makes me feel very awkward.

  • Taiga

It’s a cleft palate if your PALATE is cleft! The roof of your mouth! Cleft lip and palate frequently go together but are separate conditions.
As someone who was born with a cleft lip, I appreciate this article. Sure it’s sensationalistic, but the underlying message that you can lack physical perfection and still be beautiful is a good one.

  • ryan

Wow…this article is so disturbing. There’s a difference between pointing out a celebrities flaws, like them without makeup or photoshopped,
and pointing out actual medical deformities.

This is not inspirational at all. I have genetic diseases and multiple deformities surrounding them and would be horrified if they were reported on regardless of context. As someone with a deformity, I don’t want to “succeed EVEN with deformities”. I want to just succeed. That kind of thinking only reinforces the sense that my deformity makes me who I am, even if not in my eyes it still seems like society looks at it that way.

Pointing out people’s deformities does not help with self-image, but that is
really an entirely separate issue. The majority of people can’t identify with
    an actual physical malformation.
What are you trying to say with this- that celebrities are normal people? Though somehow (and don’t get me wrong, I know you are not the one that made the information public originally) they aren’t allowed the legal right to have their health information kept private…?

Look, to the writer of this article- just please really think hard about the point of this
article and think about the implications in it. I’m sure you had good
intentions in this. Maybe as an actual article you could have gotten your point
across but in the form of a slideshow, it only seems as though you are
sensationalizing and if you are indeed sensationalization something so serious then that does not stand up to any sort of journalistic integrity.

  • Hal Barbour

A vestigial tail is not a deformity, we are all coded to have one it’s just with most people the gene is turned off.

  • Wh???

I’m just wondering…why this stuff matters? I mean… their normal people just like the rest of us. If I didn’t have a belly button, someone wouldn’t write an article about that, would they? Everyone has flaws!I don’t understand why you would want to possibly embarrass somebody by writing an article about their differences.

Forrest Whittaker’s “lazy eye” might not be so lazy. I discovered late in life that my eye wasn’t lazy, but that the orbit around the eye was lower. That might be the case for him. Either way, Forrest Whittaker rocks & I’ve always felt kinship over the “lazy” eye.

  • kerumbo

Dan Aykroyd also has webbed toes. In the made-for-(but never shown-on) TV movie “Mondo Video,” he demonstrates that he is a “true mutant” by “prodding” his toe-webs “with a Phillips-head screwdriver.”

  • Jenny S

Techincally, Forest Whitaker does not have a lazy eye, he has a condition called ptosis, a drooping of the eyelid.

    • Turtle Poser

It might not even be ptosis, the bone around that eye might be lower than the other, causing the lid to “give up trying.” It is in my case. He’d need scan to see if that’s the case with him.

    • Maggie

      lazy eye=layman’s terms
ptosis=medical term for the condition above

      • Erik Baran

No, one involves the eyeball and the muscles around it, the other concerns the eyelid. Google is your friend.

        • Maggie

I know, but many people call a lazy eye due to when they see a drooping eyelid, hence the term lazy eye. Doctors have ‘ears to the streets’=how patients explain things on their bodies.

      • Anthony Powers

really? because i have always heard “lazy eye” used to refer to a “wandering eye,” or a condition where the two eyes do not appear to focus on the same point.

  • Erik Baran

S*xy and pen*s?? What are we, 12 years old? Grow up.

    • Sara

I was going to say the same thing! They’re not swear words!

  • Cameron Ladd

The legendary Cary Grant, in his youth, damaged one of his front incisors had it extracted. In time, the rest of his teeth shifted to fill in, so he was left with a single front tooth right in the center of his face. Amazingly, it wasn’t even noticed until spotted by the cinematographer in one of his films. He managed a decent career despite that deformity and how it clearly diminished his looks, right? :p

    • Kathleen Onhasey Andersen

I believe he also had a somewhat paralyzed upper lip resulting in the fact that he rarely showed his front teeth when he smiled.

Deformity: a condition in which part of the body does not have the normal or expected shape. Yes, ok, by definition Denzel’s finger is “deformed”, but seriously, this is an overstatement… I think you are channeling BuzzFeed with this story.

  • Don Oberloh

Megan, a un-set broken finger is not a deformity. Deformities are birth defects,

I thought the one about Sanaa Lathan was going to be about the scar on the right side of her face. Regardless, I think she is a very attractive woman.

  • Nana Monster

My aunt has 3 nipples too …and she’s in her 80′s so what’s the big deal??

  • jct

So that was Kane I seen at the airport in Atl…I remember thinking that dude looks like part of the yang twins but he was limping

I wanted to show this page to my students as a self esteem raiser. Unfortunately, because of the inappropriate titles and pics for other articles underneath this one, I could not. Opportunity lost.

You can always take screenshots, crop the image and print them out.

Lana Parilla has a scar above her lip from a dog attack. And what about Gary Burghoff’s baby arm?

      And Jason Momoa’s facial scar?

On November 15, 2008, Momoa was slashed in the face with a broken beer glass at the Birds Cafe, a Hollywood, California, club.He received around 140 stitches during reconstructive surgery, and his scars are apparent in his later work

And who is looking at Karolina’s navel anyway.

  • FromUR2UB

I was curious enough to go through all the clicks! Now, I know the next time I see some of these people in a movie or show, I’m going to see if I can spot their thumbs or ears.

  • guest

All this time I thought it was Sanaa’s nose.

  • Guest

Sanaa was never cute to me. She looks elfish in the face or something

    • GillianAndersonCooper

I am all about her — she’s very attractive to me. Incidentally, I do like elves — Tauriel — but it never occurred to me that Sanaa looked elvish, or elfin (?). She’s just a beautiful woman.

    • MzBrenda Tyson

Sanaa is beautiful. Never saw her as elfish

  • Kristen

I think this proves that everyone in Hollywood isn’t perfect like they’d like for you to believe! Which is why I wonder why so many people bend over backwards for unnecessary plastic surgery. We all have flaws, that’s just part of being human!

  • Mira

What is the point of this article, MN? Everyone has flaws, so why create a stupid a$$ article about someone else? Get some new writers.

    • Trisha

If you don’t like it why are you here reading it?

    • John

Are you dumb? Yes, everyone has flaws but how many people have you met with a vestigial tail, 12 fingers, 4 nipples, no belly button??? This is more interesting than most of the nonsense articles you find on here. You click this “stupid a$$” article knowing exactly what it was when you clicked, you read it knowing exactly what you are reading, then you take the time to write this comment and im not supposed to think you are an idiot?

  • Justine

Sanaa nd Megan wit club thumbs…wow!! Who knew i had such beautiful company?? As a child i was sooo self conscious abt my thumb…then my aunt told me its my rich finger….tht im goin to need a big thumb to count all my money….lolol

    • hiswomanandlovingit

that is a really cute way to make a child feel better about a small difference.

    • redrsbetr

      that’s one smooth aunt!!!
      great explanation!

    • MzBrenda Tyson

Awwww, way to go auntie. I live grown ups that no matter what makes children fell good and special despite of. Girl keep counting money.

    • Donna Polles

My youngest (20) has clubbed thumbs (yes, both!). It never bothered her too much but when she saw Megan Fox has them as well, she was thrilled :)
Also, my paternal grandmother had one blue eye and one brown eye!

  • Just saying!!

Wow!! Four nipples? NO belly button!? Interesting. They hide these things well I guess lol
