Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds recently sat down with media maven Oprah Winfrey for an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter. During their chat, the music industry vet opened up about divorcing from his ex-wife, Tracey Edmonds, after thirteen years of marriage and what he thought about her relationship with Eddie Murphy. He also sang the praises of Tracey’s current boyfriend, Deion Sanders. Check out his interview highlights below.

On his “picture perfect” marriage to Tracey:

“I can’t imagine really being married to Tracey right now.”

“We wanted it to look like that. We felt responsible…the reality is that there was a connection that wasn’t really there. We loved each other but we weren’t really in love with each other. It was more the idea of it falling apart and me holding onto the image of what I thought we were. I don’t feel like we were supposed to be together forever…I’m okay with it because I think she’s okay.”

On his ex-wife dating Deion Sanders:

“Deion’s a good guy. Deion did one thing for me, which I thought was the classiest thing in the world. I’ve given her my opinion on certain things, I knew Deion seemed like a nice guy. When he called me and said he didn’t want to meet my children until he sat down with me, so he wanted to know me before he met my children, I was in. Tracey is family, so I wanna make sure she’s good.”

On Tracey dating Eddie Murphy:

“I didn’t think it was the best thing. I didn’t know Eddie so, I said to Tracey, ‘It’s your decision.’ It wasn’t for me to step in, but things happened the way they were supposed to happen.”

I think it was probably the other way around . . . she never loved him.

After seeing her on Deion’s show, there is really nothing special about her. She acts sort of like a dumb blonde and Deion’s mother seems not to care for her.

I didn’t see the interview but I always thought he got with/married Tracey because Pebbles was already taken, obviously.

The headline got my attention. I probably would not have read it otherwise. Thanks for posting this Madame Noire, I enjoyed the interview and am happy to see that all parties involved are happy in their relationships. As for how Tracy and Babyface got together; Tracy has given several interviews as to how her mother chased Babyface
down at a public venue and gave him her phone number after showing him Tracy’s picture. The rest is history; but Tracy’s mom definitely played the role of cupid. :)

Very classy interview Oprah really knows how to dig without offending the [erson she is interviewing. Babyface is one class act, as for not loving Tracee well???

  • lockstress

So why have kids brought into a loveless…oh…nevermind!

    • Christian Omari

He is clearly re-writing history. Not only did he “supposedly” have kids, but he left his wife. . Okay, I’m stopping. He’s entitled to his personal truth.

  • Sunshinegirl

I love this man! And, Tracy’s beautiful! I’m glad that they are both happy with their lives at this point although I’m still giving Deion the side eye about the whole Pilar debacle. I know it takes two, but he had his hand in the cookie jar too.

Classless headline for a VERY classy interview! Shame on you Noire!

    • mskane808

how is it Noire fault? help me understand.

      • PleaseDOBetter

They created the headline that didn’t provide a full context of what was shared.

        • mskane808

maybe to you but not to eveyrbody else.

          • PleaseDOBetter

            Not to me.

            • mskane808

i thought you was replying to me b/c it say you were.

              • PleaseDOBetter

I was replying to you in response to your response to Kelly. At this point it is moot.

                • mskane808

why would reply to me? i wasn’t talking to you an you right the convo is moot. you internet people be doing the most.

                  • PleaseDOBetter

You asked a question. I wasn’t trying to escalate anything, my apologies that you took it there.

                    • mskane808

you took it there yourself, there was no need for you to attack what i said. lmao you all can keep on voting down my comments, i said what i had to say.

                    • PleaseDOBetter

I feel the need to say this because I get that some people come on these sites to troll, argue, call people out of their names and whatnot, but that is not my intention. I’m not sure why you took it there, but I didn’t attack you. I was answering a question because I thought you legitimately didn’t understand the question being raised by another poster. That’s all it ever was.

                      Happy Thanksgiving all!

I never said it was their fault. I said the headline was classless. You apparently like to argue online, but I’m not the one. Have a VERY blessed Thanksgiving! =)

          • PleaseDOBetter

What are you talking about? What in my response had to do with arguing?

      • Kelly Renee Clarke

Please listen to the interview before questioning.

        • mskane808

when you post something that doesn’t make much sense, you get replies like mine. when you become an editor, or start a magazine/ media outlet. you make POST’S that ARE MADE TO CATCH ATTENTION,,, so again Noire is not at fault. if you feel that way why come on here better yet why continue to review the article?

          • Kelly Renee Clarke

I never said it was their fault. I said the headline was classless. You apparently like to argue online, but I’m not the one. I hope you have a VERY blessed Thanksgiving! =)

            • mskane808

if i like to argue, apparently it takes 2. i just ask a simple questioned. you the one getting bent of shape. i would say the same to you on the happy thanksgiving but your not a seeming happy person. im going to say deuces to you like i told your friend (pleasedobetter).

  • coolyfett

Deion is a real dude. Thats respectful.

  • Anesha Johnson

Anyone noticed how Tracey looks just like Pebbles, ijs, also I find it hard to believe that they weren’t in love with each other. I think there was a time when they were, but when the marriage crumbled, that was it. It’s easy to come out saying you weren’t in love NOW, because of divorce. Tracey seems like a good person, but a driven person, someone with an agenda. Interesting how she only dates men with status and plenty of money…..ijs

    • Kelly Renee Clarke

I was at the wedding. This surprised me too!

      • C. Von

Kelly, so was I. In fact, my cousin performed the ceremony in that church right off of Little Santa Monica. Wow! Small world.

        • Kelly Renee Clarke

          Definitely small world! =)

    • jay

      Tracy is pebbles..

  • Stephanie

Babyface is pure CLASS (a straight up grown azz, mature MAN :)!!! & that was a mature/respectful move on Deion’s part regarding Babyface’s children.

  • Ajavee

That was classy of Deion Sanders to talk to Babyface before meeting his sons.

    • Bev Davis

Deion is still an as hole and he will never marry the “think she’s all that tracey”…

No thanks
