(Crain’s) — Just 10 days after New York City’s Health Department passed new rules requiring restaurants to prominently post letter grades rating their cleanliness, state lawmakers are calling for similar legislation.

The state Senate’s Democratic majority passed a bill requiring the Commissioner of Health to establish a grading system based on the city’s model, which will be implemented next month when restaurants will begin receiving a grade of A, B or C.
