(Tampa Bay Biz Journal) — Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson is making his mark in Tampa’s downtown, purchasing the Embassy Suites Hotel across from the convention center in Hillsborough County’s biggest deal since 2007. RLJ III – EM Tampa DT LLC, a recently established corporation tied to Johnson’s The RLJ Cos. in Bethesda, Md., bought the 360-room hotel April 16 for $77 million, or $289 a square foot. WPM Construction LLC built the hotel in 2006.
