Fashion Statements from the Naughts

We’ve become more sophisticated in the 2000s when it comes to fashion. Women’s styles are increasingly feminine, though oft punctuated with an edgy aggression, like a one-sided shaved head or massive holes in leggings—which, by the way, were also popular in the ’80s (Don’t you just love a comeback?). Both men and women wear narrower, more fitted clothing (see Kanye West), and push a smooth swagger that attempts to “bring Hot back.”
Rihanna’s 2000s Statement: Short, signature haircut, with popular blonde streak. Barely-there makeup, and “all-black-everything” outfit with defined edges. Aviator sunglasses, of course.
Cassie’s 2000s Statement: The one-sided shaved head, which is her signature. Natural, barely-there makeup tones. Hot pink fingernails, and casual, body-hugging tee.
Estelle’s 2000s Statement: Closely cropped hair with light, angel-colored makeup. Uber-symmetrical three-quarter dress with peep-toe heels. (And a man admiring).
