Looking to change up your look with a little old school glamour? Here are some tips for achieving that vintage beauty.

It looks like a lot of work, but retro bombshell beauty is all about a certain confident simplicity. To get this look, you have to ignore extreme and fussy styles, fads and trends.

The first step is a classic, distinctive hair cut. Distinctive doesn’t mean anything you’d see going on at The Detroit Hair Show, it just means that your ′do has a real shape to it.

Retro bombshells have clear, clean skin. For shadows or little imperfections, dab on a concealer like Therapy Systems Better Than Cover, a new 100 percent natural concealer ($24).

Make sure you have a good skincare regimen and are flawless before attempting this look. Retro bombshell’s use powder or oil blotting paper to combat shine.  Try Truo’fles Premium Mineral Powders ($16.99).

It doesn’t get more retro than a bold, clearly defined red lip. To go really retro, make it a matte lip, but make sure to prime your lips with balm so they don’t look cracked. Not everyone is confident enough to pull off this look, but fortunately…

Retro bombshells also love a nude lip with a hint of gloss. Shades of taupe and the sheerest pinks work, but stay away from vampy dark colors or anything like fuchsia to really pull off this old school style.

Retro bombshells have statement eyebrows. Nothing that looks too plucked or waxed or like a unibrow. Get a good quality brow grooming tool like Tweezerman’s Slant Tweezer ($25).

Flirty fake lashes or two to three coats of inky black mascara are a retro bombshell staple. Try Au Naturale i-Envy lashes by Kiss ($3.49).
