In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, every October the focus is on products that keep one looking pretty in pink for a good cause. But anyone who’s been touched by breast cancer, even tangentially, knows the disease has a very ugly side — or a beautiful one if you ask these survivors who are proudly displaying their mastectomy scars on social media this month. It used to be that losing one’s breast to cancer was something to be ashamed of and the scars embarrassing. But not for these women. They are survivors and they’re baring the scars to prove it in beautiful ways.
