Some people are great at keeping a secret, and then there’s me. Call me overly excited but there are certain things I can’t wait to shout from the rooftops, and the gender of my baby was one of them. It’s so hard to hold it in, especially when you wait until the “safe point” to let people even know you are expecting a child.
My husband and I actually learned the gender of our child in the beginning weeks of my second trimester. Trust when I say it was weird for us that they were even able to tell us with so much accuracy, but my, how science has changed (we had the optional genetic screening). Looking back I wish I had a redo since many of my pregnant friends are filling their social media newsfeeds with awesome snaps of their baby’s gender reveal. And here I just told people it’s a boy!
Honestly speaking, you don’t have to go over the top or do anything special. Heck, not all parents even want to know the gender of their child. There is, however, something fun about documenting the reactions of others and how you share your news. If you are preggers and thinking about creative ways to reveal your baby’s gender, here are five ideas you might want to consider.
Fun Ways to Reveal Your Baby’s Gender
Host a party
Did someone say fiesta? If I could do my gender reveal all over again, you best believe it would include a party. A pre-game if you will to the baby shower (or it can be the theme of the actual shower), this is a fun get together that unites your close friends and family by letting them in on your little growing secret.

Professional photo shoot
This is an awesome idea that you can share with those close to your heart who live afar. My friends revealed the gender of their child with a professional photo shoot/video that they were able to share via print and online. With these type of shoots, you are able to not only capture a couple’s love but also have the chance to use fun props (the balloon in this case contained pink confetti).

Sweet edibles
I love the idea of revealing your baby’s gender through food! It reiterates the sweetness of the moment while creating some mystery since you have no idea what’s in the center. Should you have a sweet tooth, consider baked goods like cupcakes and cake where participants have to indulge to learn the gender of your baby.

Fun candids
Sometimes all a gal needs is a little creativity and a camera. In fact, these days you can create professional images from the comforts of your cell phone thanks to Instagram and other apps. Be creative with your snaps by using fun props, your sonogram photo, you and/or a family member. This is a fun idea that can involve the whole family!

Pool/Prediction
Want to have a little fun in the office? Create a baby pool where your associates have to guess the gender of your baby. Just remember you eventually have to tell them who guessed right.
