Could Raven-Symoné be joining Don Lemon and Stacey Dash as the Black people most likely to put their foot in their mouth? The former Cosby kid is no stranger to the spotlight, but she is starting to make just as many headlines (if not more!) for her downright ridiculous statements as she does for her acting and personal life. Since The View can’t seem to find a permanent lineup, lately Raven-Symoné has been filling in as a guest co-host. With ABC reportedly wooing her for a permanent position, we can expect more ridiculous remarks. But for now, here’s a look at some of the most absurd comments Symoné has made to date.

Harriet Tubman And The Twenty Dollar Bill

Just last week, Raven-Symoné had a lot of us scratching or shaking ours heads over the comments she made about Harriet Tubman being voted as the possible new face of the $20 bill. But Raven-Symone didn’t cast her vote for the abolitionist.

“Let me just preface [by saying], I understand the history,” she said. “I get it, trust me. I was taught, I’m in that culture. But there’s also Wilma Mankiller, there’s also Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Harriet Tubman…Me personally, I would’ve chosen Rosa Parks. I would have chosen someone that is closer to the progression that we’re doing now.”

Raven-Symoné Isn’t African-American

Last fall, Symoné sat down with Oprah Winfrey and for the first time she spoke openly about her sexuality. But the former Cosby kid ended up making headlines not just because she came out of the closet, but also because she declared that she is not African-American.

“I’m tired of being labeled,” she said. “I’m an American. I’m not an African-American; I’m an American.”

She’s From Every “Continent” In Africa

After Raven-Symone realized the firestorm she caused when she said she wasn’t African-American, she decided to try and stop the bleeding. But her interview with E! only made matters worse because of a slip of the tongue.

“I never said I wasn’t black; I said I wasn’t African American,” she said. “To me that’s a difference. Thank you to Ancestry.com actually for sending me my DNA test … I am from every continent in Africa, except for one, and I am also from every continent in Europe, except for one. And for the last 400 years, my family has been living in Virginia. How long do you have to be in one country before you’re that?”

Her Stance On The Michelle Obama Ape Comment

Filling in as a co-host on ABC’s The View, Raven-Symone and the ladies of the roundtable were discussing recent comments made by Univision host Rodner Figueroa where he likened Michelle Obama’s looks to that of an ape from Planet of the Apes. Symoné defended Figueroa and caught some flack for what she said.

“Was he saying it racist-like? Because he said that he voted for her later, and I don’t think he was saying it racist… Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people look like animals. I look like a bird. So can I be mad if somebody calls me Toucan Sam?”

Michelle Obama Looks Like A Cat

During that same E! interview where she informed everyone of all the continents she’s from (*side-eye*), Raven-Symoné tried to explain her defense of Rodner Figueroa and said, “I don’t know if I was defending. I don’t think I was defending. I think that he got fired for a reason. It was very distasteful what he said. It was very distasteful. I don’t believe she looks like an ape] at all. I don’t believe she should have been casted. But I do know that a lot of people I know have animal traits…I think Michelle Obama looks like a little cat.” Not helping.

Not helping.

She’s Just A Human Who Loves Humans

For the past few years, there was speculation about Symoné’s sexuality. Photos of her out and about and cuddled up on social media with America’s Next Top Model contestant AzMarie Livingston sparked rumors about the former child star possibly being gay. She finally confirmed what many people had suspected during an interview on OWN’s Where Are They Now?, but don’t call her gay or a lesbian. “I don’t want to be labeled gay,” she said. “I want to be labeled a human who loves humans.”

Lindsay Lohan Needs To Stay At Home

Apparently, there’s no love lost between former child stars Raven-Symoné and Lindsay Lohan. While Lohan has been the poster child of a young star gone wrong, Symoné has managed to avoid the pitfalls that have tripped up a lot of actors who grow up in front of the cameras. But the That’s So Raven star threw a little shade at LiLo during her interview with Oprah Winfrey when she said, “It’s unnecessary to go to the most popular restaurant in the world when you have a scandal on your head and then get mad that someone’s gonna take a picture of you,” she said. “That’s your fault, Boo-Boo. Stay in the house.”

Pop Singers Need To Put On Some Pants

Mike Huckabee found himself in hot water with the Beyhive when he chided Beyoncé for using sex to sell records. Whoopi Goldberg scolded the former presidential candidate for once again criticizing the “Drunk In Love” singer but not surprisingly, Raven-Symoné agreed with him. “OK, I have an issue. I love—oh, here we go with the Bey fans again — but I just need somebody to put some pants on when people are performing nowadays.” For fear of riling up the Beyhive, she went on to say that she is not “hating on” Beyoncé but, rather, “pop stars in general that like to not wear pants when they perform.” She went on to say that someone like Janet Jackson is sexual but still classy which is almost laughable considering the “Rhythm Nation” singer has routinely straddled men and simulated sex onstage.

Everyone Should Be Able To Use The N-Word

Since Empire made its debut, it has been the only thing that people talk about, but the show is not without controversy. Star Terrence Howard expressed his desire to use the N-word on Empire, especially since it’s a common word used in the Black community and hip-hop culture. While debating that issue on The View, Raven-Symoné got under some people’s skin when she implied that everyone should use the N-word. “We don’t look at it as racism as the way your generation does. We’re trying to move forward.” Riiight.
