Picnics at vineyards

Now that it’s warm, you can sip and snack among the vines you got your vino from. Most vineyards will let you bring your own picnic, purchase a wine flight or bottle, and settle down near the grapes for hours.

Camping on the beach

There is nothing like the sound of the waves and a clear view of the stars for a good night’s rest. We’re also fond of the feeling of cool sand under your toes once the sun sets, the way the moonlight flickers on the calm nighttime water, and the sound of little summer critters. And, of course, camping food! Like great burgers and s’mores.

Movies in the park

Going to a movie in the park feels like time has stopped. Summer lovers have been doing this for decades, and it never gets old. Pack up your convertible or hatchback with delicious movie snacks, some blankets, and your flick-loving friends to join the other movie lovers on the dewy grass.

Working out outdoors

Hey, remember how half a year ago working out wasn’t totally miserable and depressing? Well, that was the magic of summer, and it’s back. The sound of the treadmill can be soul-crushing, and you count every single second of it, but when you jog around town or your favorite park, you don’t even realize how far you’ve gone. When you’re done, you can sit down for a little outdoor meditation.

Spending a day on a lake

Whether you have access to a boat or just love the shores, being on the lake is a constant party. There is an unspoken rule that if you’re there, you’re in a good mood. And everybody’s happy to share their food and drinks with fellow lake dwellers. Canoe around with a little boom box and you’re a mobile party.

Miniature golf

Miniature golf has the power to transform us into children again. The details of every hole, from the windmill to the little ponds, feel like a tiny amusement park. Speaking of which, miniature golf courses usually come with go-cart racing and arcade games!

Spontaneous road trips

Something about the warm air makes the whole world feel more welcoming. Suddenly you and your friends are packing big hats and jean jackets and hitting the open road. And no road trip is complete without a great meal, on the hood of your car, with an incredible view.

Lazy days by the pool

You don’t need anything fancy—any friend’s pool or even a little inflatable one is all it takes to have a staycation. Buy some little umbrellas for your cocktails and a comfy lawn chair and you’re living in luxury for the day.

Going to a baseball game

Even if you don’t follow the sport, a live baseball game—professional or little league—is buzzing with fun in the summer. The sunflower seeds, the hot sand on the dugout, and the bleachers full of screams are the epitome of summer.
