Adult acne? Terrible teen breakouts? They’ve all been there. Celebrity life may seem care free, but behind the scenes these celebrities go through the same struggles as you and me.

Paula may look flawless now, but once upon a time, she battled serious skin problems. She says that her acne was so bad that it kept her from having the confidence to go on the big screen until her skin finally cleared up at 28.
The Baggace Claim star told The New York Times just how bad it was: “I had terrible skin all through college. I kept my hair in my face. I wouldn’t take a photo, and I couldn’t look anyone in the eye.”
Kerry Washington

Victoria’s secret to conquering her former skin problems? The former Spice Girls’ personal dermatologist says that it all came down to Mrs. David Beckham being careful about her diet: “no dairy intake, no caffeine intake, and next to no sugar.”

Katy Perry’s skin struggles aren’t really a secret. She told Vogue that her skin “used to be a lot more worse than it is,” but she still uses “a lot of coverage” because her acne struggles left her feeling insecure.
P. Diddy
P. Diddy let the world know about his skin struggles when he joined Proactiv’s team of celebrity spokes people to “moisturize my situation and preserve my sexy.” But just a few months after using Proactiv, he sued the company for $1.5 million when he kept experiencing breakouts.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star has clear skin now, but she says that back in the day her acne got really bad:

She keeps it under control now but she says she never forgot the lesson that her bad skin taught her:
“When I looked in the mirror… I made myself so small and worthless that I was just the pimple. Don’t do that to yourself, guys. Go stand in front of that mirror and remember that YOU ARE AWESOME.”

How does Alicia deal with her adult acne breakouts? She drinks lots of water. She even sets her phone alarm to go off every two hours just to remind her to have a glass.

Cameron Diaz says she suffered from bad skin all the way up until he 30s:
“I tried to get rid of it with medication: oral, topical, even the harshest prescriptions. Nothing helped for very long. It was really challenging to cover them up for the cameras. It was awkward and embarrassing and frustrating, and I always felt really bad about myself.”
How did Cameron finally cure he acne woes? By eating better. She says once she ditched the junkfood, “a funny thing happened … my skin began to clear up! My acne wasn’t totally gone, but it was significantly better.”

To show her fellow teen fan that they weren’t alone in their acne struggles, Royals singer Lorde posted this Instagram selfie captioned: “In bed in paris with my acne cream on.”

Thanks to all of the over-the-top makeup he rocks, not a lot of people knew about Dennis Rodman’s problem skin. But we think he’d be inspiring as Proactiv’s next celebrity spokesman.
Miley Cyrus
We’re glade we weren’t under the spotlight when dealing with high school breakouts. Miley says that her teenage acne was so bad that she suffered from bullying because of it.
She told Elle magazine, “I went through a time where I was really depressed. Like, I locked myself in my room and my dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] had to break my door down.”
