Don’t take it for granted if your man does these 14 things: plenty of perfectly nice guys out there don’t even think to do them!
Planning in advance
He finds out his friends are having a party two weeks from now. So the next time he speaks to you, he asks you to mark that date on your calendar. He doesn’t bring it up the day before, or even the week of. He brings it up as soon as he knows about it to ensure you can make it, without having to change any of your own plans around.
Calling during the work day
Plenty of men think they have no obligation to call you until their day is done! Plenty of men just find it a hassle to spend five minutes on the phone with you when they could have used that five minutes to play a game on their computer or shoot the breeze with their coworkers.
Calling on a trip
Not every man calls while he’s away. Whether it’s a business trip or vacation, lots of guys like just being away and not connecting with people or things back at home, so they’ll just send a few texts during their trip and that’s it.
Always having condoms
Believe it or not there are guys who are consistently out of condoms. It takes a thoughtful, responsible man to ask himself each time he is at the drug store, “How is my condom stash holding up?” Plenty of men expect the women to provide the protection!
Asking what your friends are up to
Before diving into making plans for the weekend, he asks what your friends are up to, to see if there is something you’d like the two of you to join them on. He tries to make it easy for you to keep up your friendships while in a relationship.
Watching an episode of your favorite show
Do you have any idea how many men just think, “That’s her show. She can watch it on her laptop, I’ll watch my show on mine, and we can re-convene when the entertainment portion of this night is over”?!
Leading your moving committee
He doesn’t just help you move: he researches the best price on a mover for you, picks up snacks to feed your other helpers, and organizes everybody! Most boyfriends just stand around in case something heavy needs to be lifted. Or, even worse, tell you to just give them a call once your new place is all set up!
Cook for you
Cooking is scary for some guys! Not to mention, time intensive. If a man cooks for you, he not only puts his pride on the line, he commits several hours to grocery shopping, researching recipes and actually cooking. A credit card and a phone call to the local delivery place could have sufficed.
Keep quiet while you’re sleeping
Admit it: men are just better sleepers than women are! And so to many of them it doesn’t occur that if they’re on the phone in the room that will wake us up, or that if they leave the bedroom door open and blare the TV in the next room, that will wake us up. It takes a thoughtful man to keep a quiet space while you get your Z’s.
Just say “I’m sorry”
When you vent to your partner—perhaps even about something he has done—and he just says, “I’m sorry” without making any excuses, he is going against every impulse in his body! And he is doing it to make sure you feel loved in a time that you’re upset.
Get to the restaurant early because you can’t
Lots of boyfriends would just say, “Well if you can’t make it on time we’ll just eat at home tonight.” But it’s the truly sweet boyfriends who will wait alone for an hour at a popular restaurant to make sure you two get a table, allowing you to just breeze in and sit down when you’re ready to eat.
Keep your favorite drink around
This means that when he goes to the grocery store, he writes, “SkinnyGirl Margarita” or “Merlot” on his shopping list…and he doesn’t even like that item! It’s all for you.
Ask to see what you bought
Only the sweetest and smartest men know what an ego boost it is for you to give them a fashion show of your new purchases.
