Going to the gym can be fun, beneficial, and sometimes like a weird social experiment. You have people who are extremely dedicated on improving themselves, in an enclosed space, with limited mirror room, and testosterone is a-flowing. Sometimes when you mix sweat and hard work with human error, you will come across certain mishaps that will either have you laughing, feeling embarrassed for the person, or embarrassed for yourself. Trust me, after being flung off a treadmill myself, I definitely know of the mishaps that can happen at the gym. Here is a list of 9 more, and share your own weird experiences/memories in the comment section.
“Take the Picture Down!”
Let’s start this countdown with a moment from reality television, via “Love & Hip Hop” season 3. While Yandy’s cousin is training her, he’s also posting pictures of her progress on Instagram. Yandy’s fiance’, Mendeecees, felt disrespected by the photos, and confronted Yandy’s cousin. Angry words turned into angry actions, and the gym was the backdrop to it all.
In the Groove
This alleged video of Amanda Bynes getting a good work out was posted amidst a time of personal struggle for her. Now, I don’t know for sure if this is her, but whoever the person who is on that machine is getting it, public opinion be damned!
Gym Trolling
There are a group of people who like to get under people’s skin on the internet. But there’s a braver bunch that is willing to do so, not only in person, but at the gym, where you’re already sweaty, agitated, and can easily do some damage with a barbell. The site, Exercisetoloseweight.com created a compilation of Youtube videos of the crazy things people do at the gym to annoy people that is extremely funny.
Roid Rage?
There’s not a lot of information about what led to the confrontation, or what was said. But it seems as though the lifter was in violation of something, and when being told he began to throw things.
Getting Pumped Up
Sometimes you need to talk yourself up before you do your next set of reps. I’m not faulting anyone for how you have to encourage yourself at the gym, but it doesn’t make it any less entertaining to watch.
Getting those Gasses Flowing
Working out can help to get your digestive system and gastrointestinal tract moving, so when this gag (with help of a speaker) began happening, I think people originally saw it as a hazard at the gym. But when it kept happening, well… the reactions speak for themselves.
“Don’t Be that Girl…”
Going to the gym with other people can be encouraging, but sometimes friends can sort of impede the progress. It doesn’t help that you have to defend yourself from some men trying to “correct your form” as he rubs against you. But just make sure through all of this that you’re not “that girl.”
Don’t be “That Guy” Either
Fellas, you’re not off the hook either. Going to the gym with my guy friends was always futile because I spent more time laughing at their grunts than doing my own reps. But, they paid me back by being “The Coach,” “The Show Off,” and “The Face.” This is an ode to you, men.
But on a serious note, congrats if you go to the gym, or even work out at home. None of this is to shame you, it’s just finding fun in what can sometimes be mundane. But whatever you do, don’t do what this next guy did…
“A Big Mistake…”
Now, this didn’t happen at the gym, but… *sigh.* It’s just unfortunate that this happened, for how long it happened, and why this man felt the need to do what he did.
