Every bride should have her day exactly as she wants it. But some should take a few classes in etiquette before dreaming up the big day, or at least leave things up to a trusted event planner. These couples either shocked, offended or just disappointed when they said their “I do’s.”
Justin and Jessica sell their photos
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel accepted a modest $300,000 for private photos from their Italian wedding.
Justin and Jessica’s video “gift”
Although it was friends of the couple that did it, those are still friends they chose! J+J received this video “gift” from absent guests, that began “Greetings from your Hollywood friends who just couldn’t make it” and a shot of homeless people congratulating the couple before going on with, oh, you know, trying to stay alive.
Nicole Richie’s run in with PETA
Believing the animal to be good luck, Nicole had an elephant at her wedding. PETA was not pleased, reporting the company that delivered the special guest uses electric shock prods and bullhooks to train their animals.
Cindy Crawford uprooted guests
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s last-minute wedding came together okay, except for one problem: the 20 unwanted strangers that had booked rooms much further in advance at the hotel the couple suddenly decided they wanted to wed at. The couple bought out the hotel, and uprooted the guests, paying for them to stay elsewhere.
TomKat had a human security rope
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had security guards create a human rope to keep fans away when the couple arrived in Rome for their wedding. Not exactly that Italian, all in the family feeling.
Elizabeth Hurley moved the wedding for a photo opp
The ceremony of Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayer took place in England, but the entire party was uprooted to India for the party, where Elizabeth and her groom offended the community by having a Hindu ceremony, as non-Hindus.
Russell Brand; King of the Jungle?
When Katy Perry and Russell Brand married at Ranthambore National Park, they nearly got their guests killed. The excessive noise and lights from their event drew the attention of a male tiger, which crashed the wedding area.
Not even a mansion could contain the Kardashian wedding
Police reported 22 noise complaints filed when the Kardashian clan took over Santa Barbara for Kim’s wedding. Even an enormous mansion, in the hills of sprawling Montecito, couldn’t contain their sound.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds married on a slave plantation
Sure, the South Carolina estate the couple decided to wed on was gorgeous, but the story behind how that property came to be is not a pretty one. According to historians for the property, at least 40 slaves at one point worked on the land.
Madonna’s violent groom
Somehow, Sean Penn wasn’t expecting media at this wedding to Madonna in 1985. The actor fired what he called “warning shots” at circling helicopters and scrawled “F— you” in the sand.
Celine Dion thought she was royalty
When Celine married Renee Angelil, she wore a crown—sorry, tiara—worthy of a Lord of the Rings wedding. Does the ego fit the hat?
Nobody took a step at Celine’s second wedding
We’re thinking Aladdin had something to do with Celine and Rene’s second wedding in 2000. The ceremony included jugglers, camels, exotic birds and hoistable chairs for all the guests. Because god forbid they simply walk to one another’s table.
Britney Spears’ white trash wedding
When Britney Spears married Jason Allen Alexander in 2004, instead of a veil, she opted for a baseball cap, and instead of her father or a close friend, she had a bellman walk her down the isle.
Bethenny couldn’t hold it
How will Bethenny Frankel explain this one to the gals of Real Housewives during their next argument over which of them is the classiest? Just moments before walking down the isl, the bride was caught on camera urinating into a bucket.
